Camp Director David Korn
David Korn is entering his sixth season as the head coach for the Saints men’s soccer team. Before coming to Maryville, Korn spent two seasons at nearby SIU Edwardsville, an NCAA Division I school, and was co-head coach when the Cougars reached the 2014 NCAA Tournament...View David's Bio ⟩
Korn has led the Saints to three consecutive bids to the NCAA Division II Soccer Championships in 2017, 2018 and 2019. The 2019 campaign was capped by the Saints reaching the Elite Eight of the tournament. He guided Maryville to the Great Lakes Valley Conference tournament championship in 2018 and again in the spring of 2020, which would have been the fourth straight NCAA appearance if the championships would have been conducted.
During his tenure at Maryville, Korn has coached three major Great Lakes Valley Conference award winners, two All-Americans, 10 All-Region players and 22 All-Conference selections. He has helped six players advance on to professional opportunities.
Off the pitch, the Saints have had a 100 percent graduation rate. As a squad, the Saints have posted a team grade point average of at least 3.3 every semester to earn the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award. Korn has coached four CoSIDA Academic All-Americans in his Maryville career.
Korn served as the co-head coach at SIUE in 2014. In his first season with the program, he led SIUE to its first Missouri Valley Conference tournament championship and a bid to the NCAA Division I Tournament. The Cougars recorded a 1-0 victory at Northwestern before getting eliminated by No. 18 California. In 2015, Korn served as the program's associate head coach. While at SIUE, he supervised two players, Matt Poster and Christian Volesky, who were selected in the 2015 Major League Soccer SuperDraft, as well as 2016 SuperDraft selection Justin Bilyeu.
Prior to SIUE, Korn worked for three years at Wright State University and was promoted to associate head coach in 2012. He helped the Raiders earn two Horizon League Tournament bids and an appearance in the 2011 championship game. Korn helped the Raiders record their first winning season in a decade, and Wright State’s 11 wins in 2011 were just the third time in nearly two decades that the program won more than 10 games. He coached the Horizon League Newcomer of the Year in 2011 and 2012, as well as nine All-Horizon League selections.
Korn spent the 2008-2010 seasons at the University of Denver and aided the Pioneers to two NCAA Tournament bids. In 2008, he helped the team post a 10-7-2 record, 8-1-1 in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation, and earn the program’s first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance. In 2010, the Pioneers received an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, before getting eliminated 1-0 in double overtime by UC Santa Barbara. During his time at UD, the Pioneers had three players drafted in MLS SuperDraft. Korn’s first collegiate position was as an assistant coach at Lafayette College in 2007. He helped the Leopards post a 10-4-6 record and reach the championship game of the Patriot League Tournament.
A native of Tucson, Ariz., Korn graduated from the University of Arizona in 2007 with a bachelor's degree in business management. He earned a master's degree in organizational leadership from the University of Denver in 2010.
