Camp Director Ben Maxwell
A native of Scotland, Ben Maxwell has been coaching in the USA for 13 years. Ben has coached in 10 states, and has been settled in California for 10 years. In his time in California, Ben has proven to be one of the top youth soccer coaches, notably when it comes to the long term technical development of the player.

HOUSING
The information below is based on previous years and is subject to change each year.

- Linens: Not provided. Bring linens or sleeping bag, pillow, pillowcase, and a towel
- Air Conditioning: Please refer to the Camper Registration Packet. A/C availability depends on our specific dorm assignment
- Spending Money: For pizza, subs, sodas, laundry – the suggested amount is $30 a week.
- Laundry: The coaching staff will have access to the school's laundry facilities for an additional cost. Campers can request access from the coaching staff and pay for useage/detergent using cash, Venmo, or Apple Pay. Laundry will typically be done 1-2 times per week.

WEEKEND INFORMATION
- Weekend Stay-over for 2 weeks Academy students: The weekends are “rest time” for multiple-week students. There is a required schedule of non-physical activities on both Saturday afternoon and Sunday.
- Saturday schedule: On-field program 9-11:30 am. Lunch: noon; Free time: 1-4pm; Stretching and Visualization: 4-5pm; Dinner and free time: 5-8pm; Evening meeting and movie: 8pm.

GEAR
All Vogelsinger Soccer Campers receive, as part of their tuition, official Nike Vogelsinger Soccer Camp jerseys, and a Nike soccer ball. 1 Week Academy players receive x2 Nike tops, x1 Nike shorts, and x1 Nike socks. 2 Week Academy players receive x2 Nike tops x2 Nike shorts, and x2 Nike socks. Players are required to wear official tops at every field session. You may order extra uniforms during checkout or by calling us (1800-645-3226).
TRANSPORTATION
Transportation is not provided. Campers are responsible for getting to and from camp on their own. There is no supervision before or after camp hours so please make arrangements to pick up your child on time.
TEAM DISCOUNT
If you have a group of 4 or more campers registering for the same camp, each camper is eligible for a $25 discount. If you have a group of 8 or more campers registering for the same camp, each camper is eligible for a $30 discount. Camp Questions & Answers
Does the Health & Release Form need to be signed by a doctor?
Our Health & Release Form does not require a doctor’s signature. This form is required to be filled out accurately, signed by the parent (guardian), and brought with you to the first day of camp.
How and when will I receive my Registration packet with important camp details?
Well before the start of your camp (at least 3 weeks), you will receive an information packet which will include all the important details about camp: directions to camp, when to arrive, what to pack/ bring, camp address (for mail) and key camp phone numbers and the Medical/ Release form, etc.
Are the campers supervised throughout the camp?
Yes, campers are supervised by the coaches and staff. Staff members reside in the same dorms as the campers and provide supervision during instruction, dining times, evening activities, and in the dorm. All staff members complete criminal and sex offender background checks before working the camp.
What is the cancellation policy?
Hopefully, you will not have to cancel, but if you must, please do so early so that those on the waiting list can be notified.
For those who have Cancellation Protection: Cancellation Protection entitles you to a full refund of camp fees (deposit or full payment) if you cancel for any reason before May 1st. Please note: $50 Cancellation Protection fee is non-refundable.
If you cancel after May 1st, 2020, we will issue you a camp voucher for all camp fees paid, valid through 2021. Your camp voucher is transferable to family and may be used for any Vogelsinger Soccer Academy.
For those who do not have Cancellation Protection: If you have to cancel, for any reason, we will issue you a Vogelsinger Soccer Academy voucher for all camp fees paid, valid through 2021. Your camp voucher is transferable to a family member and may be used for any Vogelsinger Soccer program. Cash refunds will be given only with the purchase of Cancellation Protection and who cancel on time.

Great Experience
July 13, 2019: Aidan really grew as a soccer player and young man during the three week camp. This was his first experience being away from home more than a week (at age 12) and wants to return next year. The staff, led by Doug Parra, were amazing and a big part of my son’s positive experience during the three weeks. This camp is sooo good because there are girls at advanced levels and coaches can teach us in a way that's not judgmental or critical but caring They want us to improve for ourselves and the coaches give great motivational advice that's not BS. It is really fun, you meet a lot of nice people and you cannot leave without learning a lot. Even if you are already a great soccer player you always come out of there even better, wether you learned moves tactics, or just have a better shot, it is worth it.

My father went to this camp in 1984,85,and 86. He told me this was an incredible experience. After attending the camp I have to agree. The soccer instruction was great, the intensity was high and the people were all very nice. Next year i want to go for 2 weeks. I would love to bring my friends next year. I had an incredible time.

This camp is just wonderful! It helps you in every way possible, at first I didn't think that the kicky kicky thing with coach Matt wouldn't help a bit but honestly does. This camp is great because it shows great spirit and friendliness. They promise that you'll go home a better player and you honestly do!

June 23, 2018: As a parent, I was very impressed when showing up on Friday. The camp director, as well as, most of the staff all took time to talk with me and knew exactly who my son was. Each of them provided feedback for me on my son. My son is so picky, but he really enjoyed this camp. He loved the strong workouts and training philosophy. The direction from coaches from different parts of the world was also greatly appreciated by him. I'm hoping to send him back next summer to try out the 2nd week of the program.

I have attended Vogelsinger Soccer Academy for the past 2 years. My best friend and I have enjoyed it so much that we told all of our friends and we were able to fill our suite with our friends. Our friends had a blast, loved the program, and have now told their teammates and it looks like we will be able to fill 2 rooms next year. Now that's the best testimonial you can get!!! I can't say enough about how wonderful the coaches are. The coaches are fun, competent and they work hard on giving us new moves and tips for making us a more complete player. The fields are nice, and close, and the dorm rooms are great. The food is pretty good too! We love to order take-out pizza. It makes for a fun night of Pizza. Nothing better than a good giggle with your best friends at camp! And finally, Doug Parra... He has got to be the nicest director ever! He is constantly overseeing everything and making sure that everyone is fine. It's awesome when I show up to the camp the first day and Doug is greeting me and knows my name. I know that if I ever had a challenge or problem at camp, Doug would fix it. He is very approachable and I am comfortable going to him for anything I need. See you next year!

He really liked the soccer drills and that they focused specifically on one subject or concept during trainings. It was fun and certainly helped him grow as a soccer player. He found the goalie coach, Juan, to be great to work with and feels like he received helpful, constructive feedback. Matthew & his friends, Alex and Patrick, were very excited about the camp when we picked them up and said that it was a great experience. They all feel that returning multiple years makes the camp easier to adjust to and their skills have greatly improved from attending.

July 12, 2019: Joao had a great time at camp. He got a lot of playing time and was able to play with older players. This allowed him to improve his endurance and running speed. Joao also enjoyed that the camp supervisors were very mindful of his needs and were very polite and courteous.The camp was fantastic! My daughter went to this camp with one of her team mates. She worked very hard and had a wonderful experience. Her coaches provided her with great leadership, and she developed an array of new skills. It was clear she developed and has already told me that she wants to return for at least two weeks next year. She said it reaffirmed her love for the game, and instilled more of a personal work ethic in her, as well as taught her to be more coachable.

Our son has participated in many soccer programs, and found the Nike Vogelsinger camp at UCSB to be a fantastic experience - disciplined training, a high level of skills, campers from around the globe and a fun campus environment.

Experience of a lifetime
Volgelsinger Academy was just an awesome experience for my daughter. My daughter is 13 and had the experience of a lifetime. She got to meet kids across the Globe and to this day she is still talking with these kids. I thought that the safety overall was great and the kids never left without being in groups. The soccer training was exceptional, along with a rigorous soccer training schedule. My daughter went to the three week Academy and when she got home she was very drained and exhausted. She tells me that she wants to go back next year.

So much fun

There is a family feel about it
July 6, 2018: Stamina. You really push the kids to their athletic limits, it shows them what they are capable of! I love that they come home with an evaluation and specific skills to work on. Meeting friends who also love soccer and being inspired by the wonderful coaches. Also the independence to follow a schedule on his own, go to town with friends. This camp is the highlight of his year! The camp is well organized from check-in to check-out. There is a family feel about it- everyone seems to care about my son's well-being. The accommodations are wonderful and I feel very safe leaving him at Tropicana Gardens, it is great that it is all set up in one courtyard. This is a camp he will return to for many years to come!

My daughter went to this camp with one of her team mates. She worked very hard and had a wonderful experience. Her coaches provided her with great leadership, and she developed an array of new skills. It was clear she developed and has already told me that she wants to return for at least two weeks next year. She came away with greater confidence in both soccer and with self esteem. She also made some amazing new friends! She said it reaffirmed her love for the game, and instilled more of a personal work ethic in her, as well as taught her to be more coachable.

Amazing
The Goalie Camp was amazing. My daughter came home every day wanting to show off something new. Everyday. We will be back for another 3 week's next summer.

Disciplined training
Our son has participated in many soccer programs, and found the Nike Vogelsinger camp at UCSB to be a fantastic experience - disciplined training, a high level of skills, campers from around the globe and a fun campus environment.

Experience of a lifetime
Volgelsinger Academy was just an awesome experience for my daughter. My daughter is 13 and had the experience of a lifetime. She got to meet kids across the Globe and to this day she is still talking with these kids. I thought that the safety overall was great and the kids never left without being in groups. The soccer training was exceptional, along with a rigorous soccer training schedule. My daughter went to the three week Academy and when she got home she was very drained and exhausted. She tells me that she wants to go back next year.

Improved Remarkably
My son has improved remarkably during each of the two years he has attended camp. The coaches and trainers are excellent.

See you Next Year!
My son had an excellent experience and is looking forward to next year. He stated that he really liked the instruction and said everything was explained, demonstrated and passed on really well. The motivational attitudes of the instructors kept the camp fun and at the same made want to learn. Christian says thanks for everything and he'll see you next year.

Happy Parent
Vogelsinger Soccer Academy at UCSB is a wonderful experience, both athletically and socially. The weather is perfect, the coaches are international and quite good. My daughter can't wait to return next year.

So much fun
July 5, 2021: Devin was nervous, this being her first overnight camp. She had so much fun all around in this setting. She did have 3 friends attend with her and that made it even better.

There is a family feel about it
July 6, 2018: Stamina. You really push the kids to their athletic limits, it shows them what they are capable of! I love that they come home with an evaluation and specific skills to work on. Meeting friends who also love soccer and being inspired by the wonderful coaches. Also the independence to follow a schedule on his own, go to town with friends. This camp is the highlight of his year! The camp is well organized from check-in to check-out. There is a family feel about it- everyone seems to care about my son's well-being. The accommodations are wonderful and I feel very safe leaving him at Tropicana Gardens, it is great that it is all set up in one courtyard. This is a camp he will return to for many years to come!

Very happy returner!
Four years now for my 12 yr. old and she loves it more every year. She even wrote a school essay on Vogelsinger being her favorite week of the year. Next year she goes for two weeks!

July 6, 2023: As a goalkeeper, I had a slightly different experience than the rest of the players with my highlight being keeper training and the World Cup.

June 30, 2023: The social aspect was one of the highlights of the camp. I attended the camp before player one performance took over and the friendliness of the coaching staff increased by an incredible amount once player one performance came in.
