Nike Softball Camps is pleased to welcome back the Windy City Rage FastPitch skills camp located in Skokie Illinois at Laramie Park
For the second year the Windy City Rage FastPitch organization will conduct a softball skills camp for players that would like to develop proper fundamentals of throwing, fielding, hitting and pitching. Some of our featured staff members will be current and past collegiate and professional players. In addition, we will have several of our current coaches and players from our 18U team assisting with demonstrations and instructions.

Northwestern's most dominant pitcher since Lisa Ishikawa led the Wildcats to four-straight Big Ten titles in the mid 1980s. A two-time Big Ten Pitcher of the Year, two-time NFCA All-American and four-time All-Big Ten selection, Canney began her career as the 2004 Big Ten Freshman of the Year and at the time of her induction remained the NCAA single-game strikeout record holder with 28 in a complete-game, 18-inning win at Minnesota in 2006.

Canney Linnehan earned a bachelor's degree in human development and psychological services from Northwestern in 2007. Currently a pitching instructor in the Chicago area, where she resides with her husband Andrew and 1.5 year old daughter Lila.

A four-time All-Big Ten first-team choice and three-time All-American (two-time first team), Garland Cooper became the Big Ten Conference's home run queen while leading the Wildcats to two-straight Women's College World Series semifinal appearances and a Big Ten championship.
As a senior, Cooper broke the Big Ten's single-season home run record with 23, giving her the conference's all-time record with 55 career homers. That season she won Big Ten Player of the Year honors for the third time, becoming the first person in conference history to win it in three consecutive seasons. Cooper also was a 2007 Lowe's Senior CLASS Award finalist, a USA Softball Player of the Year finalist, a USA National Team selection camp invitee and an ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America first-team award winner. NU finished the season in the national semifinals at the Women's College World Series.
In 2006, Cooper led NU to its first Big Ten Championship since 1987 and its first World Series berth since 1986. In Oklahoma City, Cooper earned All-Tournament team honors by launching a pair of home runs and helping the Wildcats reach the final series, eventually finishing as national runners-up.
Cooper graduated with NU's all-time records for batting (.387), home runs (55), games played (244), runs scored (146), hits (265), RBIs (207), doubles (59), walks (158), on-base percentage (.513), total bases (499) and slugging percentage (.728). She ranked in the top-10 all-time in NCAA history in intentional walks.
Academically, Cooper was a three-time CoSIDA Academic All-District V and Academic All-Big Ten honoree and the second two-time CoSIDA Academic All-American in program history.
She went on to play professionally in the National Professional Fastpitch League and overseas in the Japanese Softball League. In the JPL, Cooper was named Rookie of the Year in 2008 and led the league in homeruns.
Cooper now provides commentary during ESPN and Big Ten Network broadcasts during the NCAA softball season and serves as the NCSA Athletic Recruiting Director of Softball Operations. Cooper also gives hitting lessons in the Chicago area and is expecting her first child with husband John Tsarouchas.

Willis Miles began umpiring in 1982 and has created a resume that reads like a who's who of umpiring. During his stay behind the plate, Miles has umpired in seventy-five USSSA World Series events and has done forty-five Championship contests. In March of 2008, he was named United States Specialty Sports Fast Pitch Umpire of the Year. He also was named Assistant Illinois State Fast Pitch Umpire in Chief in 2010 to present.
Understanding the rules and how to make them work to your advantage is as much an important part of the game as your physical skills. Knowing the rules allows you to make better decisions and will give you an advantage during the game. Willis Miles has been a student of the game throughout his many years of officiating and will share his knowledge and experience. He and his crew will also officiate the scrimmage games during our camps and explain the rules through out the games.

Softball Skills Instructor Former Professional Player: Alex is a Lake County, IL native, growing up in Gurnee. She has competed against the local area teams throughout her teenage years, up until college where she competed for and graduated from the University of Illinois. Booker’s career in the orange and blue concluded with All-Big Ten accolades as well as several Academic honors.
Post collegiate softball, Alex started her career with the local Chicago Bandits professional fastpitch softball team in 2014. As season came to a close, she began her collegiate softball coaching career with an inaugural program, Texas A&M University–Commerce, and also completed her master's degree in Science. She then started the 2015 summer again with the NPF Chicago Bandits and finished it as the 2015 National Professional Fastpitch Champions. Alex then began a second collegiate coaching position at Arkansas Tech University.
This camp will focus on developing the fundamentals and mechanics of softball. Attendees will learn sound fielding throwing, hitting and pitching skills and get an in-depth understanding of how to play the game of softball at the highest level of competition.
Hitting and pitching will be instructed by two of the most prolific pitchers and hitters in Northwestern University history. Camp will also feature some live scrimmage game instructions that will provide players with valuable information that will help improve their game.Show Less See More Camp Details
Camp will also have several current and former 18U Windy City Rage team players that will assist coaches with demonstrations and leading groups in drills and instruction.
Day one will consist of Rage coaches and players working with girls to develop basic fundamentals of the game.
Day two will be dedicated to skills specific instructions featuring Eileen Canney and Garland Cooper.
Day three will be live scrimmage game instructions with Eileen, Garland and coaches helping girls hone their skills and get a better understanding of how to become more successful players.

Camp concludes on Wednesday at 3:00pm.
A detailed camper registration packet containing check in location, health/release forms, emergency contact numbers, and a checklist of things to bring will be emailed to all registered campers in the Spring. The US Sports Camps health and release forms do not require a doctor's signature and they will be collected on the first day of camp.
