Take your swimming skills and physical conditioning to the next level! Experience the same training & benefits of our Academy student athletes, enhancing your performance in the pool. Campers will leave with improved technique and a Performance Training plan to give you an advantage over your competition.
SPIRE Swim Camp creates a unique, cutting-edge environment for swimmers wanting a competitive advantage. The camp will focus on all technical aspects of racing and are designed to specifically develop the four competitive strokes plus starts, turns, transitions and finishes. Stroke technique, efficiency and speed will all improve. SPIRE Performance Training is included and designed to develop core strength, power and flexibility.
This camp is open to any and all entrants. For your safety and benefit, we recommend you have competitive swimming experience (e.g. U.S.S. age group, national qualifiers, high school swimmers, or summer league swimmers) and can swim at least 50 meters in all four competitive strokes: fly, back, breast and freestyle.

Camp Director Thad Schultz
Directing camp is Thad Schultz. A standout swimmer at West Virginia, Schultz’s vast knowledge base spans the club, NCAA and national team array. A 25-year coaching veteran, Schultz spent time coaching on the college scene at Clemson and Ohio State before joining Penn State in 2009. Coach Thad has worked with over 20 Olympic swimmers, 18 NCAA All-Americans and dozens of state and sectional champions.

- Programs: Summer 2-Week Extended Swimming Training - SPIRE Academy’s Summer Extended Swimming Training offers swimmers an immersive and comprehensive experience designed to elevate their performance in the pool. This program includes daily, high intensity swim sessions led by SPIRE’s elite coaching staff, tailored to each swimmer’s skill level and goals. Participants also undergo swim-specific assessments and engage in Performance Training aimed at optimizing strength, speed, and endurance both in and out of the water. In addition to the rigorous training schedule, swimmers will enjoy a variety of fun and interactive activities that encourage team bonding and relaxation. The program also features off-site excursions to explore local culture and attractions, creating a balanced experience that combines athletic development with personal enrichment. By the end of this extended camp, swimmers will have improved their technique, formed new friendships, and gained memories to last a lifetime.

- Programs: Summer Start & Turns Training Camp - The Start & Turns Camp is designed for swimmers looking to master two of the most crucial aspects of competitive swimming—starts and turns.
This specialized camp focuses on perfecting explosive starts, powerful push-offs, and streamlined turns across all strokes. Swimmers will receive expert coaching on key techniques such as reaction time off the blocks, maximizing distance off the start, and efficient underwater dolphin kicks. In addition to starts, the camp will focus on developing fast, tight turns and smooth transitions, ensuring minimal time spent at the wall. With personalized feedback and performance drills, athletes will leave with the skills needed to gain a competitive edge in every race. SPIRE’s world-class coaches and facilities provide the ideal environment to refine these essential race-winning techniques.

- Programs: Summer 6-Day Training Camp - Our Swim Training Camp is designed for experienced swimmers who are eager to elevate their performance in the pool. This camp offers intensive, daily swim sessions led by SPIRE’s expert coaching staff, focusing on technique refinement, stroke efficiency, and overall swim endurance. Athletes will engage in specialized drills tailored to improve their freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly, along with starts, turns, and finishes. Beyond stroke work, the camp includes swim-specific strength and conditioning sessions to build power, speed, and agility in the water. Swimmers will also benefit from personalized feedback and targeted improvements. With SPIRE’s top-tier facilities and a team-oriented, competitive atmosphere, participants will leave with enhanced skills, greater confidence, and a deeper understanding of how to maximize their potential in the pool.

- Programs: Summer Swim Stroke Camp - The Swim Stroke Camp is designed to help swimmers refine and perfect the technical elements of all four competitive strokes—freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly. Led by SPIRE’s experienced coaching staff, this camp focuses on enhancing stroke mechanics, improving efficiency, and fine tuning body positioning and breathing techniques. Through a combination of drill work and personalized feedback, swimmers will receive tailored instruction to address their unique needs. In addition to stroke development, the camp incorporates start and turn training to give athletes a comprehensive skill set for competition. With SPIRE’s world class facilities and individualized approach, swimmers will leave the camp with improved technique, greater confidence in the water, and the tools to achieve peak performance.

2025 HOUSING
- Dorm: SPIRE Village
- Number of Campers Per Room: 2 per room
- Roommates: Rooms are assigned by age & roommate requests. Roommate requests must be mutual and received no later than 14 days before the start of camp. If you don't have a roommate request, you will be placed in a room with someone near your age. It will be a great opportunity to meet someone new!
- Bathrooms: Shared
- Linens: Not included. Bring linens or sleeping bag, pillow, pillowcase, and a towel.
- Air Conditioning: YES - Dorm has A/C
SUPERVISION
The staff reside in the dormitories with the campers and participate in all activities. Drugs, alcohol and tobacco are strictly prohibited, and constitute, along with general misconduct, grounds for dismissal from camp without a refund.
WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THE FEE?
- Instruction: Morning, afternoon, and evening training sessions
- Overnight campers: Dormitory housing on campus and all meals are provided.
- Day campers: Lunch is provided.
- Supervision: Staff members reside in campers’ quarters and participate in all activities.
- Camp T-shirt & Prizes: Campers at multi-day camps will receive a Nike Swim Camps t-shirt and prizes.
INSTRUCTION, EQUIPMENT & FACILITY
- Ratio: 1:10 staff-to-camper ratio
- Groupings: Campers are grouped by age, ability, and experience per the director's discretion.
- Equipment Needed: Please bring your water swimsuit, swim cap, googles and towel(s)
- Facility: SPIRE Aquatic Center
- Medical Protocol: Most camps have an athletic trainer on-site to help with illness or injury. In case of an emergency, campers will be transported to the nearest hospital.

DAY CAMPERS
Checklist of Things to Bring: We recommend that all Day Campers bring a daily pack with the following items: swimsuit, swim cap, goggles, towel, sunglasses, hat, sunscreen, sandals, water bottle, dry land gear (running shoes, t-shirt, athletic shorts, sweatshirt) and any other appropriate clothing for that day’s activities which will be described to you on the first day of camp.
Camp Schedule & Meals: 9:00am-4:00pm; Lunch is provided.
TRANSPORTATION
Unless you are a Boarding Plus Camper, transportation is not provided. Campers are responsible for getting to and from camp on their own. There is no supervision before or after camp hours so please make arrangements to pick up your child on time.

Spire Aquatic Center
Campers train each day at the aquatic center on the SPIRE Academy campus. The center has two Myrtha pools designed with input from USA swimming. Both can be configured for ten lanes of 50-meter racing that can be converted to either 25-yard or 25-meter courses with pace clocks and a scoreboard.
