Join us this summer for an exciting new junior Nike Tennis Camp at Pinehurst Resort & Country Club! Pinehurst Resort & Country Club is a three-time U.S. Open Site and is famously known for being named the Best Golf Resort in America by Travel + Leisure Golf Magazine. Pinehurst's tennis facilities have hosted many local, national, sectional, and even professional tournaments and events over the years.

The Nike Tennis Camp at Pinehurst Resort is a tennis day camp for kids looking to receive excellent coaching, improve their game, be challenged by their peers, and have a ton of fun!

Camp Director Dana Parziale

Dana Parziale is excited to join the Pinehurst Racquets Staff in 2022. He has prior experience as Director of Tennis at Agawam Hunt Club where he ran an active members program and multiple other Nike Tennis and Pickleball Camps. Earlier in his career, Dana was the Director of Tennis at the Portland Fitness and Racquets Club in Portland, Maine. He also has experience as the Head Tennis Coach at the Nick Bollettieri-led tennis program at the Ritz-Carlton Grand Cayman and as a staff professional at both the Providence Tennis Academy and The Dunes Club in Narragansett, RI.

Dana graduated from Bryant University, where he led the Bryant tennis team to its first ever conference championship and NCAA tournament berth in 2014. He was also elected captain of the tennis team both his junior and senior years in college and was named Bryant’s Male Athlete of the Year in his senior year.

Dana continues to compete in USTA tennis events and was has been ranked in the USTA National top 100 rankings in both singles and doubles. His current rating for tennis is 5.5, and he also is rated a 5.0 squash player.
Instructor Matt Downing

Matt Downing is a native to the Pinehurst area. He attended Sandhill’s Community College and was a player on the school’s first Men’s tennis team. After completing his studies at Sandhills, Matt started his tennis professional career at the Lawn & Tennis Club of N.C., where he spent four years. In 1995, he became Head Tennis Professional at Pinehurst Resort and Country Club.

In his first eight years with Pinehurst, Matt was in charge of junior programming and assisted the Director of Tennis with club & resort activities. In 2003, he became the Director of Tennis and is responsible for all member and resort programming. In addition to managing the tennis operation, he also oversees pickleball, croquet, lawn bowls, and fitness center operations. He, along with the Pinehurst tennis staff, host events such as the USTA Men’s National Clay Court Championships, USTA Boy’s & Girl’s Zonal Team Championships, the USTA Adult State League Championships, and various resort tennis events. Matt is a 24 year USPTA certified Professional, and holds PTR Professional distinctions in both 10 & under, and 11 to 17 tennis education.
Instructor Kevin Criscoe

Kevin Criscoe is a Moore County native. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Business with concentration in Professional Tennis Management from Methodist University in 2004 where he also played varsity tennis. After beginning his career at Pinehurst as Head Tennis Professional in 2006, he went on to complete his Master’s in Business Administration in 2009, also from Methodist University.

Kevin completed the USTA High Performance Coaching program at Chris Evert Tennis Academy in Boca Rotan, Florida in 2013, earning him the distinction of Specialist in Competitive Player Development. He is a certified USPTA Elite Professional, PTR Professional with designations in 10 & under, 11 to 17, and Adult Development and most recently he is a certified PPR Professional in Pickleball. He enjoys continuing to expand his skills and knowledge adding North Carolina Real Estate licensure to his list of accomplishments. Kevin’s positive, upbeat attitude and energy have earned him a loyal following over his 16 years at Pinehurst Resort.

CAMP PROGRAMS

All sessions are open to players of all abilities. Upon arrival, all participants are evaluated by the staff so that their own instructional needs can be addressed throughout the week.

We offer Full Day camp (9:30am-3:00pm) and Half Day camp (9:30am-12:00pm) options for boys and girls, ages 8-18.

All Skills Program: The All Skills program is designed for tennis players of any skill level and background. Campers will learn fundamentals and improve upon their game.

CAMP SCHEDULE

Check-in: All campers check in Monday at 9:30am at the tennis courts
Check-out: Full Day Campers check out daily at 3:00pm. Half Day Campers check out daily at 12:00pm.
Full Day Program: Monday-Thursday 9:30am-3:00pm. Full Day Campers will spend the last 45 minutes of camp with a cool down and pool time!
Half Day Program: Monday-Thursday 9:30am-12:00pm

MEALS

Full Day Campers bring their own lunch each day. Half Day Campers depart before lunch.

WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THE FEE?

Instruction: Daily tennis training, morning and afternoon sessions
Supervision: Staff members participate in all activities
Camp T-shirt & Prizes: All campers receive a Nike Tennis Camps t-shirt and prizes

INSTRUCTION, EQUIPMENT, & FACILITY

Ratio: 5:1 camper-to-coach ratio
Groupings: Campers are grouped by age, ability, and experience
Equipment Needed: All campers must bring a tennis racquet, tennis shoes, and a water bottle
Facility: Pinehurst Resort & Country Club's world-class tennis center's 21 clay tennis courts
Medical Protocol: Most camps have an athletic trainer on-site to help with illness or injury. In case of an emergency, campers will be transported to the nearest hospital
