TOURNAMENT TRAINING CAMP PROGRAM
The Tournament Training Camps are designed for tournament-level and ranked players aiming to enhance their tournament performance, develop winning strategies, and build mental toughness. The program includes an intensive “off-court” component featuring goal-setting meetings, strategy sessions covering shot selection, offensive and defensive tactics, as well as mental toughness training led by a tennis-specific sport psychologist.
This year, the program will be divided into two levels: the “A” Division and the “B” Division. Each player will be evaluated at the start of the camp. Placement into the appropriate division will be at the discretion of the Director, with adjustments made as needed throughout the camp. Our goal is to place each player in an environment that will allow them to improve as quickly as possible.
"A" DIVISION:
Tournament Juniors ranked at the National Level or Upper Sectional Level will train in the “A” Division. The “A” level Tournament Training program will include the following:
- Players "pick" a skill they wish to focus on most during the morning session. Extra attention will be given to that skill, creating a personalized program for each individual. (For example, if a player feels their serve needs improvement, they can select extra practice on it each day. If, after two days, the player wants to focus more on their volley, they can choose to do so.) Drills are intensive and include both fed balls and live hitting.
- Daily lectures will be led by a Director, covering topics such as (but not limited to) shot selection, match preparation, nutrition, and hydration. A mental toughness seminar will also be provided by Dr. Elisabeth Young, a Sports Psychologist and former professional tennis player.
- Each afternoon, participants will compete in two coached matches.
- After the tennis program each day, “A” Division participants will take part in a tennis-specific cross-training fitness program.
"B" DIVISION:
The “B” Division program is a hybrid type program designed to help players make the transition into a world of competitive tournaments. Campers will participate in select tournament training activities while at the same time, joining the general camp in several of its activities.
