Keith Byrd
Camp Director
Coach Keith Byrd is committed to helping players elevate their game through a unique blend of offensive skill development, competitive training, defensive intensity drills, and teaching the basketball IQ needed to succeed at the next level. Coach Byrd joined the American University men’s basketball staff in the summer of 2023 and most recently served as Chief of Staff for the 2025 Patriot League Champions, helping lead the program to an NCAA Division I Tournament appearance.
As the Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Montgomery College, Coach Byrd built one of the most successful stretches in program history. In fewer than five seasons, he earned over 100 wins—becoming the fastest coach in school history to reach that milestone—and compiled an outstanding 105–40 overall record.
During his tenure, Coach Byrd achieved the following:
· Won over 100 games in less than five seasons (fastest in program history)
· Compiled a 105–40 overall head coaching record
· Named Conference Coach of the Year
· Selected District Coach of the Year
· Named CKA Men’s Basketball Coach of the Year

Throughout his career, Coach Byrd has coached players at every level and has helped develop NBA players, college All-Americans, and All-Academic All-American honorees. In 2018, he coached the National Junior College Player of the Year, who later went on to play professionally.
Coach Byrd has earned multiple Coach of the Year honors and is widely respected for building winning programs while developing players both on and off the court.
“Basketball camp is my favorite time of the year. Having the chance to work with young players—those new to the game and those looking to build on their skill sets—makes it fun, exciting, and rewarding to see their progress.”—Coach Keith Byrd
