Improve Your Skills And Have Fun at Cal Field Hockey Clinics

Join Cal Field Hockey Co‑Directors Tara and Steve Danielson and their elite coaching staff for a high‑intensity clinic experience designed to elevate every athlete’s game. Through innovative drills, competitive play, and personalized instruction, players will sharpen their technical skills, strengthen their tactical understanding, and build confidence on the field.

These clinics are crafted to prepare athletes for a standout 2026 season, giving them the tools, reps, and coaching needed to take their performance to the next level.

All Cal Sports Camps are open to any and all entrants. For your safety and benefit, we recommend you choose a camp that fits your level of development. All events are subject to change based on NCAA and Covid-19 restrictions. Due to high demand and limited capacity, prices are subject to increase as the camp exceeds 25%/50%/75% capacity.

    Co-Director

    Tara Danielson was named Donna Fong Director of Field Hockey in February 2026. Danielson came to Cal after previously serving as the head coach at Stanford from 2010 – 2021 alongside Steve Danielson.

    Tara Danielson led the Cardinal to an impressive 153-59 overall record as well as nine NCAA Tournament appearances, two Elite Eights, six conference titles and a top-20 national ranking each year.

    Over Danielson’s tenure, the Cardinal produced 14 All-Americans - including seven on the First Team - 36 NFHCA All-Region honorees and five America East Conference Player of the Year Awards. Danielson’s staff also earned the America East Coaching Staff of the Year award in 2018.

    Inducted into the Massachusetts Amateur Sports Foundation Hall of Fame in 2018, Danielson’s international playing career includes representing Team USA in the FIH World Cup in Perth, Australia, Olympic Qualifiers in Sydney 2000 & Athens 2004, Pan American Games, and Pan Am Cup.

    Steve Danielson was named Donna Fong Director of Field Hockey in Febraury 2026. Danielson comes to Cal after spending the previous five seasons as the associate head coach at the University of New Hampshire, where he helped lead the Wildcats to an America East Conference title and a NCAA Sweet 16 appearance in 2025.

    Prior to New Hampshire, Danielson served as the technical director at Stanford from 2010 – 2021.

    Danielson also has extensive experience coaching the men’s national team program as a coach and consultant.

    Inducted into the USA Field Hockey Hall of Fame as a player in 2018, Danielson represented Team USA at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta and won a bronze medal at the 1995 Pan American Games. He also represented Team USA in the 2003 and 2010 Indoor World Cups. In addition to his international career, Danielson played professionally for two years in Australia and one year in Scotland.

At the Cal Field Hockey Camp, we are committed to helping every athlete elevate their skills through purposeful training, high‑level instruction, and competitive play. Our coaching approach emphasizes strong fundamentals, smart decision‑making, and continuous improvement so players leave camp more confident and capable on the field.

  • Ages: 10-18

  • Schedule: 9:00-11:00am, Sunday
  • Check-In: 8:30-8:55am at the North Tunnel at the Cal Memorial Stadium; field session starts at 9:00am
  • Game: Stick around campus after the skills clinic to cheer on the Bears as they take on Central Michigan at 1:00pm

Session III

  • Dates: September 6
  • Ages: 10-18
  • Gender: Girls
  • Camp Type: Day Camp
  • Schedule: 9:00-11:00am, Sunday
  • Check-In: 8:30-8:55am at the North Tunnel at the Cal Memorial Stadium; field session starts at 9:00am
  • Game: Stick around campus after the skills clinic to cheer on the Bears as they take on Columbia at 1:00pm.

  • Ages: 14-18 (Classes 2027,2028, 2029,2030)

  • Camp Type: Day Camp
  • Schedule: 9:00-2:00pm, Saturday
  • Check-In: 8:30-8:55am at the North Tunnel at the Cal Memorial Stadium; field session starts at 9:00am
  • Program: Experience the Golden Bear training environment and showcase your game in front of the Cal's field hockey coaching staff. This college ID camp puts serious field hockey prospects through the same demanding training sessions used to develop Cal student-athletes.

WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THE FEE?

  • Instruction: Training session
  • Supervision: Campers are supervised by staff during camp hours.

INSTRUCTION, EQUIPMENT & FACILITY

  • Ratio: 1:10 staff-to-camper ratio
  • Groupings: Campers are grouped by age, ability, and experience per the director's discretion.
  • Equipment Needed: Please bring your cleats, protective goggles & mouthpiece and lacrosse stick(s)
  • Facility: California Memorial Stadium
  • Medical Protocol: Most camps have an athletic trainer on-site to help with illness or injury. In case of an emergency, campers will be transported to the nearest hospital.

TRANSPORTATION

Transportation is not provided. Campers are responsible for getting to and from camp on their own. There is no supervision before or after camp hours so please make arrangements to pick up your child on time.

All programs take place at Underhill Field which is an artificial turf field that is the home field of the Cal Women’s Field Hockey team. Underhill Field is on the corner of College Ave and Channing Way.
