Join us this summer at NBC Basketball camp on the George Fox University campus if you are eager to improve your skills, work hard, and level up your basketball abilities. NBC coaches are excited to give your campers the skills they need!

Located just outside of Portland, NBC Basketball will be hosting basketball camps at George Fox University this summer. NBC stands for Nothing Beats Commitment and has been running camps since 1971.

NBC Camps coaches aim to create a fun, intense, and encouraging camp environment. Camps focus on confidence, goal setting, mental toughness, leadership, intensity, athletic and life skill mastery, and the importance of personal faith and Christian values.     Unlike other camp programs where skills training falls under the expertise of the camp director, NBC Camps has built a program of training to help each camper walk out of camp a better player and person. Our site directors work as event managers helping to run a great week of camp and facilitating the implementation of our specific camp expectations. Our basketball instruction is based on skill curriculum and talent development we believe are essential to take your game to the next level. Though coaching styles and drills may change, our master teachers receive resources, lesson plans, and detailed training on how to maximize the camp experience. Coaching at camp is much different than coaching a team. With 50 years of successful history, our goal is to give you the best basketball and life skills instruction possible.

For more than ten years, NBC Camps has made its Western Oregon home at George Fox University. These camps are known for their hard-working and positive coaches and the engaging way the NBC staff works to make each player's experience a great one.

CAMP DESCRIPTIONS

Complete Player Camps focus on the crucial keys to becoming a great player. We break our teaching into four focus areas: Individual offense, defense, shooting, and team skills. Campers are separated into teaching groups and teams based on their age and ability. Complete Player Camps emphasize extensive skill development, intensity, enthusiasm, leadership, and teamwork. NBC Camps' full-time staff work year-round developing curriculum, training staff, and creating a camp environment that makes NBC Camps the premier basketball camp in the world.

DAILY TIMES & CAMP INFORMATION

OVERNIGHT CAMP SCHEDULE
First-day check-in begins at 12:30 pm for overnight and extended-day campers.
Last-day check-out at 4:00 pm.

EXTENDED DAY CAMP SCHEDULE
First day: 12:30 pm-9:00 pm. Dinner provided.
Middle days: 9:00 am-9:00 pm. Lunch and dinner are provided.
Last day: 9:00 am-4:00 pm. Lunch provided.

Extended-day campers DO NOT sleep on campus or eat breakfast on campus.

ROOMMATES & HOUSING

Roommates for this site need to be requested at least two weeks before camp begins. If you have no preference, we will match you with a camper of the same gender and similar age. Contact [email protected] if you need to add a roommate request.
Housing - The information below is subject to change each year.
Air conditioning: No - campers are encouraged to bring a fan.
Lost Key Fee: Yes
Campers per room: 2
Bathrooms: Campers share a common bathroom
Supervision: boys and girls are separated into different dorms or different floors with coaches of the same gender staying in the dorms for supervision.

INSTRUCTION, EQUIPMENT & OTHER

Ratio: approximately a 1:10 staff-to-camper ratio
Groupings: Campers are grouped by age, skill, and experience.
Equipment Needed: Players should supply their own athletic equipment and have at least one pair of well-broken-in basketball (court) shoes. Campers do need to bring their own ball (clearly labeled with their name). Visit our Camp Packing List for a full list of what to bring. NBC Camps is NOT responsible for lost or stolen items.
Medical Protocol: Most camps have an athletic trainer on-site to help with illness or injury. In case of an emergency, campers will be transported to the nearest hospital.
Allergies/Dietary Restrictions/Medical Concerns: please include this on your registration so campus staff and camp staff can be prepared for your camper's arrival and meals.

TRANSPORTATION

Transportation is not provided. Campers are responsible for getting to and from camp on their own. There is no supervision before or after camp hours so please make arrangements to pick up your child on time.

ABOUT THE FACILITY

The Newberg campus of George Fox University borders Hess Creek. NBC GFU campers will stay in beautiful residential dorms. Each room accommodates two campers with nearby private shower facilities. These rooms are not air-conditioned and we suggest you bring a fan. The cafeteria facility provides an all-you-can-eat salad bar with fresh fruit, hot entrees with beverages, sandwiches, and cereal stations. GFU's large gym features three full courts. Campers will alternate using offsite gyms to provide maximum space for games and training.

George Fox does have a pool available to the campers. It is a park & recreation public pool that is next door to the campus. They will only use this pool as a group and have sufficient supervision.

FAQ

  • To offer a wide variety of camp types we sometimes have multiple camps going on at the same time. In the morning each group is separated into different gyms. The different curriculum is taught to groups based on the camp type. In the afternoon campers are grouped according to age/gender so that they can compete in live-action games against the best competition regardless of what camp type they are signed up for.
