Pac-12 Champs! 16 Bears Earn Invitations to NCAA Championships

San Rafael, CA - No. 1 California rolled to its second consecutive and fourth overall Pac-12 Women’s Swimming & Diving Championship Saturday, winning three more events to pull away from the rest of the field on its way to a record 1,629.50 points. The final team standings showed Cal with 1,629.5 points. Stanford was second with 1,401 and USC third with 1,109.

“To win a Pac-12 title in such a tough conference is something to be very proud of,” head coach Teri McKeever said. “This is when it’s supposed to come together. It’s a group of young women that set their sights high on being their best. We wanted to get as many people as we could qualified for NCAAs, and if we did that, the individual points would take care of themselves. All that adds up to the most points we’ve ever scored. That’s pretty exciting.”

The NCAA Championships are next on the schedule and will be contested March 19-21 in Greensboro, North Carolina. The Golden Bears are seeded first in the country in eight different events, five individual races and three relays, in all 16 total members of the team have earned invitations to the NCAA Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships.

This summer Cal Head Coach and Olympic Coach, Teri McKeever and Associate Head Coach, Kristen Cunnane, are offering two weeks of outstanding stroke technique camps on the beautiful campus of the University of California, Berkeley. Two overnight sessions are available, June 22-26 and June 26-30, for ages 9-16.

Come join Olympians and NCAA All-Americans for a camp that will help you reach the next level in your swimming career. Whether it is hearing from the Head Olympic Coach, Teri McKeever, listening to inspirational talks or watching some of the sport’s finest demonstrate drills, this camp will help you become a more effective and passionate swimmer. Outside of the pool the camp curriculum will also spend time discovering what it is like to compete at a Division One school while balancing academics.
