STANFORD WINS FIRST PAC-12 TITLE SINCE 2012

San Rafael, CA – An all-around team effort propelled Stanford to its first Pac-12 Conference Championship since the 2011-12 season on Saturday night.

“The team showed great respect for the process needed for this week’s performance,” said Goldman Family Director of Men’s Swimming Ted Knapp. “They were determined to send the seniors off with a championship and convey a message to our alumni that we are striving to compete as they did for so long.”

The championship, Stanford’s first since Knapp took charge of the program prior to the 2012-13 season, is the 63rd such title in program history. The Cardinal earned top-three finishes in 12 of 18 individual events, winning three, and had a podium finish in each of the three diving events.

The Cardinal finished the meet with 808 points, ahead of USC (700), Cal (628), Arizona (569), Arizona State (402) and Utah (295).

Up next for the Cardinal is the NCAA Zone E Diving Championships in Flagstaff, Ariz., March 7-9, which will determine Stanford’s diving entrants in the NCAA Championships. Stanford returns to racing March 24-26 for the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships in Atlanta, Georgia.

2016 Stanford Swim Camps

The 2016 Stanford Swim Camps are directed by Head Coaches Greg Meehan and Ted Knapp and are designed to help competitive swimmers improve their stroke technique. Campers train daily in the Avery Aquatic Complex, featuring 2 Olympic sized pools and a diving pool with platform. This is one of the most state of the art swimming facilities in the United States and served as the training site for the 2004 and 2008 Olympic teams. Every camper has the opportunity to work with Greg Meehan and Ted Knapp, as both are on the pool deck during each swim session. Camp dates are June 13-16, June 17-20, July 5-9, July 10-14 & July 15-19.
