GETTING TO KNOW: JASON ELLER, NIKE BASEBALL CAMP DIRECTOR.

Jason Eller Nikebaseballcamps

Directing the NIKE Baseball Camp at Augusta University is Jason Eller, Head Coach of the Augusta University Jaguars. A 1998 graduate of Georgia State with a B.A. in Sociology, Eller was a four-year letterman for the Panther Baseball program from 1992-95. With 20 years of coaching experience, Coach Eller is embarking on his third season as the Head Coach of the Jaguar Baseball program. Jason Eller has instilled his philosophies and started the new era of Augusta University baseball off right, with improvements seen across the board. We’re excited to have Coach Eller back with Nike Baseball Camps, so we can continue to establish this camp as one of the best baseball camps in Georgia.

GETTING TO KNOW OUR DIRECTORS.

First and Last Name: Jason Eller - Director of Nike Baseball Camp.

Location(s) you direct: Augusta, GA.

How long have you been coaching baseball?  16 years.

How long have you been directing the Nike Baseball Camp?  This is my 3rd year.

Why did you start coaching baseball? Baseball has brought many values to my life and now I am using them with my family. The trust and comradery with my teammates was something that I knew would continue with my players.

Favorite Camp Drill or Activity at Camp? The Games, no doubt.

What is the key to an incredible camp experience for you? The smile each camper has and the individual attention each camper gets. The Total Fun Factor.

Your perfect camper on Day #1 arrives with what qualities? Full Uniform gets there early and I have to tell him to sit down and hold his horses.

Which college or pro Coach do you admire and why? Pete Carroll is my guy.

Which college or pro player do you make it a point to watch play? Alex Wood, Steph Curry and Troy Tulowitzki.

What message would you like parents to understand prior to camp? Our camp is about the exciting and fun side of baseball. We take the travel ball mentality out of it and everyone gets challenged based on their level of Baseball commitment. Therefore, it’s for the beginner and also for the player that has 4 gloves and 3 bats already.

Coaching Tip.

The biggest challenge we face as parents and coaches is the mental side of Baseball which goes hand in hand with the mental side of life. We try and teach manners as well as Fundamentals. America’s game is an art form but it can create undue stress that compounds at each level. Nike Camp is 4 days of sandlot fun that my staff and players look forward to every summer. We hope you will join in on the good times.
