Five Star Counselors Impress at the Olympic Trials!
July 10, 2012
5 Star XC is pleased to report that four of its past and current counselors ran in the Olympic trials and represented very well. Chris Derrick placed fourth in the 10K after an outstanding season at Stanford and just may be able to make a return appearance. Kyle Merber formerly of Columbia U and now the University of Texas ran well in the 1500m considering the long and exhausting university champaign as did Erik Van Engen, Binghamton and Riley Masters now of University of Oklahoma. After the 1500m Merber, Van engen and Masters breifly discussed the chances of returning to 5Star this summer to run with some of our training groups and perhaps do an elite athlete forum. Add in Dick Beardsley and Suzy Favor-Hamilton and 5star has maybe the best elite runners staff anywhere this summer. This could be the best summer ever in the 31 year history.
