Chris Tabarez

Chris Tabarez is entering his second season as Head Coach of the Excel Christian High School Varsity Boys Basketball team in 2024-2025. In his first season Coach Chris led the Excel Christian Warriors to the playoffs for the first time in a decade.

As part of building the program, Coach Tabarez is implementing offseason programs, curriculum and programming created over a 20 year career as a basketball coach. As a former NCAA Division II All-Conference and international player, Coach Chris knows what it takes to compete above the high school level.

In addition to running his own camps and programs, Coach Chris has been a camp coach at Olympic Club of San Francisco and other high quality programs. He is a licensed USA Basketball Coach and has experience working with Kindergarten - High School level players as a skill development trainer for his own business Coach Chris Sports. He believes in mastering the fundamentals of the game, the importance of "basketball IQ" and playing as much as possible. He wants to give the youth of Reno/Sparks a high quality basketball program that builds skills and the love of the game.
