Improving your Decision Making Skills in Overwatch

Overwatch is a game that incorporates individual mechanics, game sense, and positioning within a team concept. The complication comes when trying to take the different team concepts into account for both teams and deciding on a course of action. Here are some tips on how to make decisions and be decisive.

Be Decisive

• A bad plan executed well is better than a good plan executed poorly
• Commit to the plan. Do not leave your teammates that have committed out to dry
• Accept that losing fights is a part of the game but always try to win

How to make decisions

• Ultimate Economy - track the ultimates on both teams and make a plan on how to utilize the ultimate economy
• Engagement Distance - are we trying to brawl with snipers? Snipe with brawlers? Think through at what distance your team is best suited to fight in
• Target Priority - is there a vulnerable target? Is there something you need to focus on to make your plan work?

Overwatch fights are a combination of individual and team decision making. However, all 6 of these bullet points should be applied to every individual and team decision.
