Bonnie Romans

Bonnie Garcia is a seasoned volleyball coach and former player who currently coaches with Valley Venom Volleyball.

I have been coaching volleyball since I was in high school, only because I was forced to coach my sister’s team, but that is when I knew that was what I wanted to do. I played on my high school varsity team for 3 years and played D1 volleyball at the University of Texas Pan American for 4 years. I started coaching at the varsity and sub varsity level as soon as I graduated and did that for 3 years but as a new mother, knew that I needed to spend more time with my child. So, I decided to quit coaching and just teach Special Education until my oldest was ready to play volleyball. When she was 8, I started coaching again at TCA Houston where I coached for 4 years. I coached the 13’s second or third teams and helped out with all the summer camps. We relocated in 2014 and I quickly started working with Valley Sting volleyball. I coached around the clock, coaching 13’s and doing leagues on Sundays, plus summer camps. We merged with Valley Venom after only being there for 2 years. Now I am happy to say that I have a middle school position coaching every sport, volleyball being my favorite, but I still coach for Valley Venom Volleyball. I believe that fundamentals are key to learning every skill and that every skill can be broken down.
