Coach Eddie Novara begins his second season on the River Campus in 2016-2017, leading the Rochester cross country teams and distance athletes in track and field.
During his first season with the Yellowjacket cross country teams, UR enjoyed great success, especially on the women's side where the team qualified for the NCAA Division III Championships as a team for the first time since 1988, and went on to finish 14th at the 2015 NCAA Championships. That followed a runner-up finish at the UAA Championships for the women as well, again the best result for a UR's women's squad since 1988.
On the track, Novara was the SUNYAC Champion in the Mile, the 1,500, and the 10,000 meter runs as a senior. He was named Geneseo's Athlete of the Year in 2012 and accumulated 15 All-SUNYAC honors between cross country, indoor track, and outdoor track. He is also currently the SUNYAC and Geneseo record holder in the 10,000 meters (29:32.75).
