Calvin Hampton is the Vancouver Volcanoes Associate Head Coach and Director of Player Development and has been a part of the Volcanoes for several years, once as a player, and now as a member of the front office/coaching staff.

Calvin is a DC native, who started his player career at famed Oxon Hill High School at age 15. He then transferred to Friendly High School, a top school in the DC area, where he graduated. Before moving on to Oregon State University, he played an additional year of ball at New Hampton School.

As a Beaver, Calvin played from 2005-2010, which was only the start of his basketball career. After this, he began what would be his 6-year professional career. From 2010 to 2016, he played in a total of 7 countries, as well as tallying 2 seasons for the Vancouver Volcanoes (2012, and 2014). These countries include China, Columbia, Bahrain, Italy, Turkey, Thailand, and Japan.

“As a late bloomer, I relied on my ability to be taught the game by some of the area’s best teachers in Mike White, Bebe Duren, and Curtis Yarbrough, " Hampton says. I’ve molded the second part of my coaching and training career behind the teachings these guys were able to provide for me while I was learning the game.” Towards the end of his playing career, Calvin transitioned into a coaching/training role. From coaching and training in Sydney, Australia, to starting his own training business (Ming Of Da Block), Calvin is now your Vancouver Volcanoes Associate Head Coach and Director of Player Development!
