Porter Troupe

Porter Troupe returns to the Vancouver Volcanoes as an Assistant Coach and Director of Youth Basketball. Porter has a rich and long history with the Volcanoes as one of the original players, and now moving to the front office.

Born in Harlem, New York, Porter moved with family to San Diego California, and had a successful high school career being nominated as a McDonald’s All American. After High School, Porter played at University of Portland before joining the Volcanoes in 2006. After the 2008 season with the Volcanoes, Porter started a 17-year career in Europe playing in 7 different countries (Romania, Finland, Poland, Lithuania, Cyprus, Lebanon, and Portugal) before retiring in 2023. In 2014-2015 He helped Energia Targu Jiu reach the final 4 of Fiba Eurochallenge (rebranded – Basketball Champions League) finishing in 3rd place in Europe. Porter was known as a great shooter, fierce competitor, and a great leader during his career. During his last season he was team captain and acting head coach for CSM Targu Jiu.

In addition to his playing career, Porter has over 15 years of coaching and mentoring youth, experience he will bring into his role as Director of Youth Basketball.
