Peter Falcon started working with the Creighton University athletic department in August 2017 as sports mental health therapist and mental health consultant. He works with a variety of student-athletes, where he performs individual counseling utilizing a variety of sports performance and evidenced based clinical counseling techniques.

Some of these techniques include CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), DBT (dialectical behavioral therapy), mindfulness, motivational interviewing, and solution-focused therapy. Sports performance techniques he utilizes include visual imagery, positive self-talk, enhancing self-esteem, goal setting, anxiety/stress management, and focus/concentration.

Peter’s athletic/distance running background spans over 18 years of experience. He ran for various USATF age group clubs like the Bellevue Breeze and Cornhusker Flyers, where he competed at a national level. He grew up in Nebraska and ran for Bellevue West High School, as well as for the Nebraska Cornhuskers from 2007-2012. Peter also has two years of coaching collegiate cross-country and track at Iowa Western from 2014-2016. Currently, he still runs competitively for a USATF Elite Development Club called Team Nebraska. He runs in local, regional, and national races, spanning from the mile up to the marathon.

Peter’s approach to counseling and coaching athletes involves combining his love for distance running, health and wellness, and mental health to provide a holistic approach to treating athletes to perform and maximize their talents and performances to the best of their abilities.
