Muskingum field

Sherman Field

On October 4, 1986, Muskingum announced that the field in McConagha Stadium would be named The Edgar A. Sherman Field.

Over the course of his 34-year career, Mr. Sherman ('36) served as football coach, athletic director, and as a member of the faculty. One of the most successful coaches in the history of college football, Mr. Sherman was the first Division III coach inducted into the National Football Foundation's College Hall of Fame. From 1967 to 1979, Mr. Sherman was a leading figure in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), serving as secretary and treasurer. He served as chairman of the committee that led the efforts to create the nationwide divisional structure - Divisions I, II, and III - within the NCAA.

In the summer of 2016, Muskingum installed the state-of-the-art FieldTurf Revolution 360 on Sherman Field. Named after the concept of completeness, the Revolution 360 fiber features optimal durability, resilience, and feel. The first complete fiber. Revolution 360 was subjected to Penn State University's Sports Surface Research Center’s aggressive 150,000 cycle Lisport Wear Testing and received a perfect score of 10. This result has yet to be matched by competing turf fibers.
