Bill Nicolay

Coach Bill has just finished his 15th season at Mills High School as both a head and assistant coach. Prior to coaching at the high school level he volunteered at Taylor Middle School as a basketball coach for five years.

Teaching basketball in his town is his way of giving to the community. Prior to living and coaching in Millbrae, Coach Bill was a player and coached in both San Francisco and Daly City.

As a life long athlete, he enjoys spending time working out with Rebecca, his wife of 33 years. They raised two sons, Matt and Will who attended elementary, middle and high school in Millbrae. Both boys were outstanding athletes in school and continue their fitness journey after graduating from college and into their adult lives.

As a coach and mentor to many young men in his community Coach Bill has led with a foundation rooted in the teachings from John Wooden, Pete Newell, and many other coaches. Additionally, the experience of coaching at Mills High School with Coach Rick Hanson has had a lasting influence on how to compete and teach the game.

With a professional career which started with the U.S. Army and subsequently managed an industry leading small company on the Peninsula, Coach Bill has been successfully building teams for decades. Your young players will learn the values of accountability, communication, and work ethics within the basic and advanced fundamentals which continue to be the back bone of our great team game.
