5 Tips to Help You in the College Soccer Recruiting Process

College recruiting tip 858x507

The recruiting process to play collegiate soccer can be daunting with so many schools, varying levels, and applications. The most important step in the recruiting process is identifying schools that are the right “fit” for you. This means that the school is academically, socially, geographically, and of course athletically a place where you could see yourself being both successful and adequately challenged. These 5 tips will help you in all steps of the recruiting process.

1) Make a list of what is important to you. Writing down different aspects of college that you want will help you narrow down which schools will be the right fit for you. Do you prefer small class sizes? Do you want to be in a big city? Do you know what you want to study? You don’t need to answer every question but thinking through your preferences will help your search for the right school!

2) Visit schools and update your list. Going to different campuses will help you define your list so be prepared to edit the list and make changes as you see what different schools are like.

3) Create a highlight video. Ask your club team if they can take video of your games and take some time to create a highlight video. The video should be 3-4 minutes long and should show coaches what makes you special as a player. What are your greatest strengths?

4) Attend ID Camps. ID and training camps are a great way to not only be seen by college coaches but also to visit the campus, meet other prospective players, and improve your game. Check out Nike Soccer Camps to see if there is a camp near you: https://www.ussportscamps.com/...

5) Be patient, confident, and enjoy the process!
