Nike Swim Camp Tip: Swim Big
One of the most important things when swimming is to swim “BIG”, in other words to appear bigger than you actually are. By simply reaching forward you're not only giving the illusion that you are taller, but you are actually adding a few inches to each stroke. In freestyle for example, rotating onto your side and reaching once the arm enters the water will make your stroke longer. Be careful not to over-rotate by going all the way onto your side as you will still have to rotate back to the other side which will in turn slow you down. By changing this one simple thing, you will cut down on 1-2 strokes per lap! These are strokes you no longer have to take which will give you more energy for the latter part of your race.
