Nike Baseball Camps
Get ready for our Nike Baseball Camp at Whitworth University! This is a fun, intensive camp where campers take their baseball game to the next level. All facets of the game are covered and campers leave camp feeling confident in the new skills learned. Our low camper-to-coach ratio ensures campers will receive the attention and training they need to improve their game throughout the week.
Campers will play at Merkel Field and receive coaching from Director, CJ Perry, Head Coach of Whitworth Baseball.

Camp Director Evan Norden
Evan was born and raised in Spokane his whole life. He played baseball at Whitworth for two years and is currently a graduate assistant coach working on his masters in teaching. Working with people and teaching are his passions. This will be his second year of Nike camp, and he is hoping to give kids a great experience and teach them about the game of baseball!

Head Coach CJ Perry
CJ Perry is heading into his sixth season as the Pirate baseball coach in 2024. Perry was selected as the Northwest Conference Coach of the Year in only his second season as head coach. A Spokane native, Perry graduated from Whitworth with a Kinesiology degree and Secondary Education Certification in 2012.

Instruction will focus primarily on hitting, fielding, base-running, and game situations. You can expect high demand for these first come first serve camper spots, so please be sure to register early.

2025 SUMMER CAMP INFORMATION
- Dates: July 21-24, 2025
- Age Group: 5-13
- Camp Type: Half Day Camp (Ages 5-8) & Day Camp (Ages 8-13)
- Schedule: Monday-Thursday | Half Day 9:00am-12:00pm & Day Camp 9:00am-3:00pm
- Check-In: Begins 30 minutes prior to the camp start time.
- Meals: Lunch will be provided for Full-Day Campers.
WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THE FEE?
- Daily Baseball Instruction
- Supervision: Campers are supervised by staff during camp hours
- Nike Baseball Camp T-Shirt, Cinch Sack, Wristband, Sticker, and potentially other prizes!
INSTRUCTION & FACILITY
Ratio: 1:10 staff to camper ratio
Groupings: Campers are grouped by ability, age, and experience, per the Director's discretion.
Facility: Outdoor Fields. Indoor facilities are available during inclement weather conditions.
Instruction will focus on the following -
Hitting: Batting stance mechanics, swing decisions, Situational hitting, Drills for bat to ball skills, and hitting philosophy
Fielding: Pre-pitch routine, Groundball fundamentals, double play feeds, pitcher fielding practice, throwing routine
Pitching: Long toss routine, grip catch (change-ups, breaking balls-based on age), stretch, flatground and bullpen routines
Baserunning: Primary and secondary leads on basepaths, situational baserunning, steal jumps and dirtball reads, rounding bases when to pick up base coach

MEDICAL PROTOCOL
Most camps have an athletic trainer on-site to help with illness or injury. In case of an emergency, campers will be transported to the nearest hospital.
TRAVEL
Nike Baseball Camps does not provide transportation from airports, train stations or bus depots. If you have a child flying to camp, please arrange a shuttle or taxi service.
TEAM/GROUP DISCOUNT
If you have a team or group of 5 or more campers registering for the same camp, each camper may be eligible for a discount. To receive the group discount, please have someone email US Sports Camps at [email protected] with the following information: Camp name, list of camper names, and the number of campers. We will respond with a unique discount code for everyone in the group to use during online registration. *Note: Discount amounts vary by program, so please reach out for more details.

Directors Note to Campers
"Welcome campers! At Whitworth, we take great pride and responsibility in hosting young ballplayers every year. We strive to provide top-notch instruction with current college players and coaches while pairing that expertise with a fun environment to help kids fall in love with the game."
Camps are open to any and all entrants, limited only by number, age, grade level and/or gender.
Sample Daily Schedule
- 8:45am Arrival (1/2 Day/Day Campers), Stretching
- 9:00am Individual instruction and drill work
- 11:30am Lunch, free time
- 12:00pm 1/2 Day Campers depart
- 1:00pm Fundamental instruction and drills, position play
- 3:00pm Day Campers Depart
Paul Merkel Field
Merkel Field: Located across from the back of the Fieldhouse, Merkel Field is home to the Whitworth baseball team. A beautiful setting for a sunny spring day of baseball, the facility has undergone several recent upgrades. Bleachers have been added and reconstructed to include seats immediately behind home plate. The backstop has been moved back away from home plate to provide a safer amount of foul territory. And a full-service press box is now in use.
