Join us this summer in Eugene, Oregon for our Nike XC Camp at University of Oregon.

The Nike XC Camp at UO offers a mix of training and recreation for both middle school and high school cross country runners and delivers an action-packed week of top-notch coaching and great running on miles of gorgeous Oregon trails while having fun.

The Nike XC Camp at University of Oregon is sure to provide a memorable summer camp experience in preparation for fall XC season.

    Matthew Barreau has over 20 years of collegiate and 7 years of high school coaching experience. Born and raised in TrackTown, USA, he has had a lifelong passion for the sports of cross country and track and field. His goal is to help foster a sense of passion and love of the sport in others, and encourage the drive and commitment for those he impacts to become better athletes and better people.

You can expect a high demand for these limited first-come-first-serve camper spots, so please be sure to register early.

Camp will also include guest speakers, fun activities, camper bonding time, and other activities aimed at providing a fun experience will growing as a runner and a person and making new friends.

THE COMPLETE RUNNING EXPERIENCE IN TRACKTOWN, USA

You will have the opportunity to train in the footsteps of legends, and visit such historic running sites such as Pre’s Trail, Hendricks Park, Amazon Trail, Hayward Field, Willamette River Bike Path and more. Camp tuition INCLUDES TICKETS TO ATTEND THE PREFONTAINE CLASSIC at Hayward Field on July 5th. Camp will culminate with the opportunity to race at Hayward Field as part of the Oregon Track Club All-Comers Meet on Thursday Evening, July 10th. (Parents are welcome to come watch.)

Campers will also enjoy the opportunity to visit famous local sites like Pre’s Rock, TrackTown Pizza, and Prince Puckler’s Ice Cream shop, all situated near the University of Oregon Campus.

Camp will also include time spent at/in the Willamette River to cool down after training runs, guest speakers, fun activities, camper bonding time, and other activities aimed at providing a fun experience will growing as a runner and a person, and making new friends.

WATCH THE PREFONTAINE CLASSIC & RACE ON HAYWARD FIELD

Immediately after check-in, all campers will attend the 50th anniversary Prefontaine Classic, one of the world’s best Diamond League track and field meets. Parents may have the opportunity to purchase additional tickets (please contact camp director for more information). Athletes will also have the opportunity to race on Hayward Field at the All-Comers Meet Summer Series hosted by the Oregon Track Club on Thursday evening, July 10th. (Parents are welcome to come watch.)

2025 OVERVIEW

CAMP SCHEDULE

  • Check-in: (All campers) Saturday, 10:00 AM-11:00 AM
    • Due to the Prefontaine Classic beginning at noon on the first day, it is important that all campers are checked in as early as possible; lunch opens at 11:00 AM and we would like to walk to Hayward Field for the Pre-Classic by 11:30 AM.
  • Check-out: (All campers) Friday, 11:00 AM-12:00 PM
  • Day Camper Schedule: Saturday, 10:00 AM-7:00 PM; Monday-Thursday 8:45 AM-7:00 PM; Friday 8:45 AM-11:00 AM

HOUSING

  • Dorm: TBD UO housing
  • Campers Per Room: 2
  • Roommates: Rooms are assigned by age & roommate requests. Roommate requests must be received no later than 14 days before the start of camp. If you don't have a roommate request, you will be placed in a room with someone near your age. It will be a great opportunity to meet someone new!
  • Linens: Not provided
  • Air Conditioning: No, fan recommended
  • Key Deposit: $100 check made out to US Sports Camps

Staff members reside in campers’ quarters and participate in all activities.

WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THE FEES:

  • All campers will receive one GA ticket to the Diamond League Prefontaine Classic, an Oregon Track Club membership (along with all member benefits), and get to race in an All-Comers race on the final night of camp.
  • Overnight Campers: Features several instructional sessions per day, three hot meals, and lodging in residence halls. An evening recreation program is also included.
  • Day Campers: This option offers the same features as the resident camp minus lodging and breakfast (Day Campers should eat breakfast before daily check-in).

INSTRUCTION, EQUIPMENT & FACILITY

  • Grouped by: age, ability, current mileage, and XC experience
  • Equipment needed: Campers should bring at least two pairs of broken in running shoes. Racing flats/spikes are optional. Please be sure to properly mark your equipment, so that it can be easily identified.

TRANSPORTATION

Transportation is not provided. Campers are responsible for getting to and from camp on their own. There is no supervision before or after camp hours so please make arrangements to pick up your child on time. During camp, athletes will either run/walk to training locations, or bus transportation will be provided.

CLOSEST AIRPORT:

Eugene Airport (EUG) - 10 miles from University of Oregon

  • Preferred Flight Arrival: before 10:00am Saturday
  • Preferred Flight Departure: after 2:00pm Friday, July 11th

Airport transportation is NOT provided.

Transportation is available from EUG via ridesharing companies (e.g., Lyft, Uber).

GEAR UP FOR CAMP

All Nike Cross Country Campers receive a Nike camp t-shirt as part of their tuition. Additional Nike Camp gear is available for purchase at any time on our storefront.

MEDICAL PROTOCOL

Most camps have an athletic trainer on-site to help with illness or injury. In case of an emergency, campers will be transported to the nearest hospital.

CAMP TUITION PAYMENTS

Full payment of camp fees must be completed by the first day of the month before camp. For example:

  • June Camps: final payment is due on May 1
  • July Camps: final payment is due on June 1
  • August Camps: final payment is due on July 1

Any camper with an unpaid balance 10 days before the start of their camp will forfeit all camp fees paid to date and be removed from the camp.

Your confirmation email shows your balance due and balance due date. Final payments can be made through the US Sports Camps Customer Portal or by phone at 1-800-645-3226.

Camp Questions & Answers

When and where will the check-in and check-out take place for the Nike XC Camp at University of Oregon?

All campers check in to camp between 10:00-11:00am on Saturday, the first day of camp at the University of Oregon (exact location will be provided in registration packet). After a closing/graduation ceremony, check out takes place at 11:00am on Friday, the last day of camp.

Can I come to camp alone or do I have to be a member of a team?

We welcome individual campers and teams. If you come to camp by yourself, we place you in a dorm room with another single camper, similar in age. It's a great place to meet new friends who share your enthusiasm for the sport and to have FUN!

How are runners placed in their training groups?

The Staff will provide options daily for athletes of all ability levels. Athletes will have opportunities to choose which levels may be best suited for where they are at in their training process. Additionally, staff will monitor athletes and make adjustments as needed.

How prepared does the camper need to be for a Cross-Country camp?

Athletes of all abilities and experience are welcome. However, athletes should be prepared to be running at a minimum of four to six miles each of the days of camp. For experienced and higher-volume athletes, the opportunity to run 10 miles or more in a day will be available.

How many miles do we run each day?

Athletes will run twice a day. The morning run is more of a distance run and the afternoon session is an opportunity to work on specific training paces. Actual distances vary based on runner’s mileage and ability.

What happens if it starts to rain during camp?

All campers receive their full running program each day weather permitting. In the threat of severe weather, we will adjust our schedule for the outdoor training runs.

What are some of the evening activities that are planned for the campers?

Fun and exciting after evening activities are an important part of the camp experience and are carefully planned by the staff. Evening activities include fun games on the outdoor field like soccer, ultimate Frisbee, capture the flag.

Can you accommodate special dietary needs?

Campers dine in the school cafeteria which offers a variety of different meal options that are sure to accommodate most campers’ dietary needs. In the case that a camper possesses extreme dietary restrictions, please reach out to school’s Dining Services to make the proper accommodations.

Are the campers supervised throughout the camp?

Yes, campers are supervised by the coaches and staff. Staff members reside in the same dorms as the campers and provide supervision during instruction, dining times, evening activities, and in the dorm.

All staff members complete criminal and sex offender background checks before working the camp.

How many campers are placed in a dorm and do you accommodate roommate requests?

Overnight campers are placed 2 per room in the dorms. When you register for the camp, you have an option to submit a roommate request. If you would like to add a roommate request after registering for a camp, please feel free to give us a call or send us an email. We accommodate all roommate requests, made before 2 weeks before the start of camp. Campers who do not submit a roommate request will be placed in a dorm with other runners, similar age and same gender.

Do the dorms have air-conditioning?

Dorms are not air-conditioned. Bring a fan.

Does the Health & Release Form need to be signed by a doctor?

Our Health & Release Form does not require a doctor’s signature. Forms are required to be completed accurately, online.
