Aerial Field Hockey Tip with USA Field Hockey Star

This field hockey tip is presented by Ali McEvoy Campbell, past defender for Team USA and current coach at the Nike Field Hockey Camp at Millersville University. Here are her tips to help you make the most of your arms and legs in an aerial. This skill can be important to help you get out of the backfield and out of hard pressing situations. Join Ali this summer for more game changing tips and instruction like this!

To help incorporate arms:

  1. Get down on one knee
  2. Be one stick length away from the ball
  3. Dip your right shoulder to get the stick angle under the ball

To help incorporate legs:

  1. Get low
  2. Explode up to get power and momentum through the ball, which will help get the ball up in the air.

Ali Campbell is currently the assistant field hockey coach at Millersville University. She was a defender on the USA Field Hockey team for 4 years, and an All-American athlete at Maryland.
