How To Fix Your Slice

How To Fix Your Slice Golf Tip

To fix your slice you must understanding why you are slicing the ball. The simplest way of explaining this is that the club face at contact is aiming further right than your swing path direction (or to the left for left-handed golfers). This means your swing is going across the golf ball, in a diagonal path. The club face strikes the ball at a tilted angle, instead of being straight. Some people will make the mistake of over correcting their swing direction, but the key is to just aim slightly right of the swing path (or left for left handed golfers).

This temporary fix will never be a permanent solution, but it will produce a few straight. This will fool people into believing they are just swinging incorrectly half the time, but those shots that are correct are lucky, not consistent. Jeff Ritter uses this drill to eliminate the guessing in your golf game.

“Nobody like’s a slice, so here is a little tip that I guarantee is going to help you drive the golf ball. It’s called the two-ball drill. All you need to do is setup the ball, then take one ball, right behind the one you are hitting on the target line, we will call that the outside ball. Then take another ball and put it a few inches on the inside of that ball, which we will call the inside ball. Take your setup, and in your back swing get your club head to swing over the outside ball and on the downswing get the club head to trace over the inside ball.

When you have a downswing that travels underneath your back swing, the swing path travels from in to out. That is the first thing you got to do to hit that draw. If the club face is returning a little bit closed to the swing path, that ball will curve from the right to the left. This is an exercise we use every week at camp, and it always delivers results. Give it a try and that slice will be gone for good.”
