Maria & Mehdi Belhassan
Mehdi and Maria Belhassan will be directing the camp and will be in residence for every session. There will be two separate sets of staff for 24-hour supervision, both on and off the court.
Stephanie Dragan enters her fourth season as Head Volleyball Coach at Franklin Pierce in 2012. She also serves as senior woman administrator at the University. Through three campaigns in Rindge, Dragan has posted an 31-49 record (.388 winning percentage) over 80 matches to push her career record to 252-289 (.466) in 541 matches over 16 seasons as a collegiate head coach.
In addition to her responsibilities at Franklin Pierce, Dragan is currently serving the second year of two-year terms as both the chair of the NCAA Division II East Region Women's Volleyball Committee and the chair of the Northeast-10 Conference Volleyball Coaches Group. As chair of the NCAA East Region Committee, she will also serve a two-year term as a member of the NCAA Division II National Women's Volleyball Committee. Dragan is also representing the East Region on the American Volleyball Coaches Association's Division II committee.
Most recently, the Ravens' resurgence continued in 2011, as Dragan guided the team to a 13-13 mark, which included a 7-8 record in Northeast-10 play, both figures marking the high-water mark for her in Rindge thus far. The team finished ninth in the Conference, one lone game from qualifying for the eight-team Northeast-10 Championship in the 16-team Conference. The squad, which featured no seniors nor juniors, clearly set the table for a potential return to the postseason in 2012.
Dragan amassed 13 years of head coaching experience before coming to Rindge, the last four of which came at the Division I level for Western Carolina University. Before that, she spent seven very successful seasons at NCAA Division III Centre College, in Danville, Ky., where she compiled an overall record of 159-107 (.598). Prior to Centre, she posted a 30-30 (.500) record in two years during her first head coaching position at Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Ga., from 1996-97.
Dragan is a 1994 graduate of Shawnee State University, in Portsmouth, Ohio, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in social science and was a standout setter on the Bears volleyball team. Dragan earned her Masters of Sport Science from the United States Sports Academy in 2008. She is an active member of the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA), is IMPACT certified and is a graduate of the NCAA Women's Coaches Academy. She has also served as an assistant coach for the USA Developmental Team as part of the 2008 Global Challenge held in Puola, Croatia.
Clint Whelan enters his first season as the Head Men's and Women's Volleyball Coach at Newbury. Whelan brings a wealth of experience in the sport of volleyball to Newbury after previously serving an Assistant Women’s Volleyball Coach at Division II Adelphi University in his home state of New York.
While at Adelphi, Whelan was responsible for constructing daily practices and individual workouts for the women’s spring season in addition to recruiting potential student-athletes on a daily basis. On the court, he specialized in the coaching of setters as well as provided assistance to in-game strategy.
Prior to Adelphi, he spent a year as an Assistant Women’s Volleyball Coach at NAIA’s Webber International University in Babson Park, Fla. In addition to assisting in Webber’s recruiting efforts and organizing practices and other team related activities, Whelan helped manage the athletic budget alongside the Athletic Director and Head Volleyball Coach.
Whelan began his coaching career with the Long Island Volleyball Club where he spent two years as the Head Coach of the Junior Olympic Team, recruiting top Long Island talent to train and compete for the opportunity to go to nationals in Kentucky, before moving on to Ward Melville High School, where he coached 2011 Newbury graduate Michael Biuso.
Whelan graduated from Rivier College in Nashua, N.H. with a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Management in the winter of 2008. At Rivier, he helped the Raiders to two Northeast Collegiate Volleyball Association (NECVA) New England titles and an ECAC Championship in addition to a GNAC title.

To register for extra activities click here.
Activities are not mandatory, and campers either choose to attend a few activities during the week, all activities, or no activities. Either way, for those campers who stay back: There will be plenty to do such as our ping pong room, watching movies, board games, card games, volleyball, and more. Counselors stay back to keep the appropriate ratios on the trip and back at the dorms!
We offer double the supervision! This is because they hire 2 separate staff: coaching staff and counselor staff. This ensures that coaches are not overworked and can adequately teach and coach volleyball every day. It also ensures that your children being well supervised during all non-sport hours. Also the owners/directors reside in the dorms with campers!
At the same location, there is a NIKE Softball Camp, NIKE Baseball, NIKE Tennis Camp, NIKE Golf Camp, NIKE Soccer Camp and NIKE Lacrosse Camp. All 7 sports camps are directed by the owners: Mehdi and Maria Belhassan. Many campers who play more than one sport are able to play 1 week of Volleyball and additional weeks in any other sport (without ever having to move locations… they can even stay in the same dorm room!)
When mixing sports, campers must participate in at least 1 full week of each sport. Sports can not be mixed during the week. This is because each sports camp is an Intensified Training Program and should not be interrupted mid week
