Field Hockey Tips to Get Recruited

Field Hockey Recruiting

There are thousands of players wanting to get recruited every year. With limited spots on every college team, it is important to get connected and explore every opportunity to play field hockey at the next level. Here are some recruiting tips from some of our coaches at Nike Field Hockey Camps.

Be Active

Field Hockey college coaches have thousands of players to look at and there is no way they can take a look at everyone! Do your research and create a list of colleges and universities that you are interested in playing at. Connect with the coaches via email or phone to better understand what type of players they are recruiting.

Be Persistent

Megan Williams, the Camp Director at Nike Field Hockey Camps in Greenwich, RI suggests keeping coaches up to date on what you’re doing. “Do your part and keep coaches updated on how they can see you play, your recent video clips and accolades, and when you'll be close to campus. Answer emails and return phone calls or texts. This helps you to stay in that pool!”

Be Open

You may have reached out to a school that you no longer have an interest in attending. Don’t be afraid to reach out to as many college coaches as you can! There are plenty of options for you to explore when deciding which college you would like to attend. You may find the right school at a place you didn’t know existed!
