Bell works closely along side the local DiscNY association where he serves on the board, as well as employing some of the best NYC club and pro ultimate players in the men's, women's and mixed divisions to serve as counselors and skill instructors for the camp.

As an Eagle Scout and avid disc golfer, Coach Bell has always remained an active member of his community and has an extracurricular résumé that speaks volumes to his lifelong interest in the healthy development of youth and sport.  During the years 1999-2003, he taught ultimate frisbee to campers at YMCA Camp Minikani in Hubertus WI, teaching again in 2009 at Camp Green Lane in Green Lane, PA, and most recently at Camp Ramah in the Berhshires, in Wingdale, NY in 2012.   He has worked hard to ensure this first ever brand of Nike Ultimate Camp's will be a fun and safe environment for young athletes to learn and specialize their skill set to compete in this amazing, high energy sport.

Coach Bell is no stranger to spearheading major ultimate developments.  In 2000 he founded the Pacific Lutheran University Men's & Women's ultimate frisbee club team in Tacoma, WA, a program to this day that routinely competes in the top 10 of the Northwest Conference, and who's women's team won the DIII National Championships in 2008.   Moreover, in 2001 he founded the PLU BBQ Invitational Tournament which plays host to over 30+ college teams each year for over a decade, and in 2009 he founded the New York Invitational Men's Elite Tournament which will be celebrating its 5th annual year this coming summer.

His numerous personal ultimate accomplishments include winning a National Championship in the Mixed Division in 2004 for Seattle Club, a 2nd place Nationals finish in 2005 for Portland Club, Northwest Conference All Region 2006, Runner up in the Callahan Award  (MVP) in 2006, a UK Men's National Championship in 2007 for London Club, a Men's World Beach Championship at Paganello Italy in 2007 for London Club,  US National Men's Championship qualifier in 2007 for Portland Club, qualifying twice more in 2008 and 2010 respectively for New York City Club, and finally he competed at the 2010 World Ultimate Club Championships in Prague.
He has continued to champion the growth of ultimate frisbee through his involvement with youth programming here in New York City, and across the country.  He is a LOT Academy Coach providing individual skill clinics in the metro NY/NJ area since 2010.  He served as the 2012 Head Coach for the All State Boys U-19 team for the state of New York, which finished 9th in the nation last year at the Youth Club Championships in Minneapolis, MI.  This spring he returns as Head Coach for the NYCUL high school varsity team at the Abraham Joshua Heschel School on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.  And most notably, he has been recruited to serve as the newly appointed Head Coach for the inaugural 2013 season of the New York Men's Pro team, New York Empire, which competes in the American Ultimate Disc League's (AUDL) Eastern Conference against top pro teams in DC, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Rochester and Toronto.  With Coach Bell's leadership at the helm the Nike Ultimate Camp will surely showcase veteran players and coaches from his circle of connections at these top New York High Schools, experienced college and elite club programs and AUDL Pro teams.

By trade, Coach Bell is a partner and chartered financial advisor for a boutique financial planning group named Cannataro Park Avenue Financial within the Northwestern Mutual Wealth Management Company.  His office is located in New York, NY where he and his team of staff meet the personal and business needs of clients across the country.   Coach Bell and his wife met at the University of Oregon while in graduate school.  They have permanently resided in New York City for over 5 years where they plan to remain, and they live in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan with their young daughter.

In addition, the Lot helped to initiate school Ultimate programs in both NJ and CA. The Lot also developed a complete beginner experience for high school and middle school PE teachers who may know little about how to teach Ultimate properly: www.gymclassultimatefrisbee.com.
Coach Mio shares a passion for teaching and expanding participation in the sport of Ultimate especially to traditionally under-represented groups of youth. The Nike Ultimate Camp serves this cause by majorly increasing the ability of urban youth to access Ultimate early in their athletic lives. Coach Mio's goal is that the NYC camps provide a fun, structured and welcoming experience.

Emilio's professional career is in the field of urban planning and community development and he works for a non-profit company that helps other organizations and community activists to improve their operations and programming. Camper Reviews

  • 5/5.

I learned so much from the Nike Ultimate Camp. I improved over the course of a few days, but I also learned the skills I need to improve more on my own. The coaches couldn't have been better. Besides being amazing ultimate players, they were all enthusiastic, supportive, and very effective teachers/coaches. I liked how there were so many coaches to help out. It was also great how new coaches kept coming in who were equally experienced and had different but equally valuable advice to offer. I look forward to coming back to camp next year.

Our kids seemed to really enjoy their time at camp and their only complaint was that they wanted to go for another week, but there was only one week this summer.

  • 3/5.

I had a very good time and learned more about the game, but I think there should be more playing time and fewer of the same drills.
