    The NBC Difference
Unlike other camp programs where skills training falls under the expertise of the camp director, NBC Camps has built a program of training to help each camper walk out of camp a better player and person. Our site directors work as event managers helping to run a great week of camp and facilitating the implementation of our specific camp expectations. Our basketball instruction is based on skill curriculum and talent development we believe are essential to take your game to the next level. Though coaching styles and drills may change, our master teachers receive resources, lesson plans, and detailed training on how to maximize the camp experience. Coaching at camp is much different than coaching a team. With 50 years of successful history, our goal is to give you the best basketball and life skills instruction possible.

    T.E.C. Method
The ability to know, understand and apply is the heart of NBC’s Teach, Encourage, Correct method. True teaching takes place when the student knows how to reproduce the skill and self-correct the skill when necessary.

Complete Skills Junior Day Camps: These camps offer comprehensive skill training, motivation and leadership training, and intensity station all within a 9 am to 4 pm time frame. These day camps are a perfect introduction for athletes into the NBC Camp program and offer a taste of NBC excellence at a pace and intensity more suitable for younger or more beginning athletes.

During this formative time, building skill mastery is crucial. It takes about 50-100 accurate repetitions over three days to learn a new skill. It takes about 2500 accurate repetitions over three weeks to undo a skill learned incorrectly. At NBC Camps, we believe it is worth the investment to help younger athletes learn a skill accurately. We also believe having fun is crucial for future passion. Our intro camps combine great teaching, high energy, enthusiasm, and tons of fun into a camp experience younger athletes love.

FAQ

  • The NBC basketball camp at Grace Christian is a junior camp focused on helping younger students improve their skills. Campers come only during the day. The NBC Basketball Camps at APU are designed to be overnight camps and campers play between 6-10 hours per day. NBC does have an extended day option at this location but it does follow the same pattern as the overnight only campers do not sleep over in the dorms and do not eat breakfast. Camp begins around 7:30 am and goes until 9:30 at night. The intensity and expectation for the APU camp is significantly higher than the day camp's. The day camp is designed for younger or more beginning players who want to learn basketball accurately.

  • Yes, every student must have her or his own basketball. We believe that working with the basketball you will be practicing with is important. Developing a habit of working on your basketball skills daily is a goal we have for campers. Everyone is given drills and workouts to do at home and having your own basketball is important for the continuity of this practice.
