Head Coach Joe Schaumburg

Joe Schaumburg is a veteran Nike Basketball Camp Director in Oregon with over 20 years of coaching experience at the youth, high school, community college, and four-year collegiate levels. Working alongside Esian Henderson, the two coaches led four youth teams to success at the first Nike Basketball Camp Tour in 2018 that traveled to Madrid and Valencia, Spain. A certified trainer for the Positive Coaching Alliance and founder of Positive Step Athletics, Schaumburg focuses on leadership and mental skills training so you can trust that your son will be in good hands both on and off the court.

Joe took his first head coaching position in April 2019 at Linn-Benton Community College in Albany, OR. Previous to that, he was an Assistant Men's Basketball Coach at Pacific University, Lewis & Clark College, and Western Oregon University. He has worked at numerous camps and clinics all over the West Coast and traveled to the Caribbean with the Kerosene Lamp Foundation to work their Academics and Athletics Island Youth Camps which target at-risk youth. He has also studied under and worked extensively with Graham Betchart, Director of Mental Training at Lucid (formerly Play Present). Campers will get to experience some of the same teaching about the mental side of the game as elite NBA players.
Schaumburg has a bachelor's and master's degree, both from the University of San Francisco.
Head Coach Esian Henderson

Esian Henderson, born and raised in Kansas City, MO, retired from his professional basketball career in 2018 after playing overseas for nearly a decade with BDA Europe. Esian has always wanted to share his knowledge with youth athletes to help them achieve their dreams and created Inspire Basketball Camps in 2016 to provide kids the opportunity to work with an extensive network of talented players, trainers, and coaches, with an emphasis on education. With his expertise playing abroad as well as his experience coaching the 2018 Nike Basketball Camp Tour in Spain, Coach Henderson will give your son the tools and knowledge he'll need to prepare for the Australian competition.

Esian attended the University of Central Missouri (UCM) and competed in the 2009 Division II Final Four, falling one game short of the Division II National Championship Game. He graduated UMC with a a B.A. in Corporate Communication (2007-2009).
After graduating, Esian moved on to play professionally in Europe and has since received numerous awards such as eurobasket.com player of the week numerous times, league MVP, Forward of the Year, Championships and one Finals MVP.
Esian is a product of a small college player that got the most out of his ability and, through Inspire Basketball, is sharing his knowledge with youth athletes to help them achieve their dreams. The goal of Inspire Basketball is to help kids understand what it takes to play at the next level.

Since finishing at The University of Central Missouri in 2009, Esian has been employed as a professional basketball player in Europe. He has been contracted to play in 10 different countries throughout Europe since that time, competing at the highest level. He has played for the following teams throughout his career:

This thrilling tour is designed to expand your son's basketball skill set, while exposing him to a new culture and beautiful sites. Each player must be accompanied by an adult and we encourage you to bring the whole family!

2021 TOUR DATES: COMING SOON!

Space is limited to 4 competitive teams - one U12, two U14, and one U16 - with only 10 spots available per team. This tour is recommended for advanced players with competitive/AAU experience.

PAYMENT SCHEDULE

Upon Sign-up: Minimum of TBA deposit per person
Final Payment: Due by April 1

APPLICATION PROCESS

Register Online: Register all participants (player, accompanying adult, and any additional family members) and submit deposit payment. Every player must register with at least one accompanying adult to to be considered for the tour.
Complete Questionnaire: You will receive an email confirmation shortly after submitting your registration. Within that email will be a link to complete an online questionnaire regarding your son's basketball experience and ability. This questionnaire must be filled out as soon as possible in order to move on to the final step of the application process.
Coach's Interview: Once your questionnaire has been submitted, Coach Schaumburg or Coach Henderson will reach out via email to set-up a brief phone interview with you and your son to determine final eligibility and acceptance to the tour.
Acceptance: Acceptance letters will be emailed shortly after your coach's interview. Should you be accepted, your deposit will be applied towards your balance and you will have until April 1 to make your final payment. Should you not be accepted, you will be refunded all fees paid.

CANCELLATION POLICY

If you need to cancel, for ANY reason, our cancellation policy is as follows:

Cancel now to 120 days from tour start date (by March 20): Receive a refund of tuition fees paid less $500 cancellation fee per person.
Cancel 119 days - 90 days from tour start date (between March 21-April 19): Receive a refund of tuition fees paid less $1,000 cancellation fee per person.
Cancel within 89 days from tour start date (between April 20-July 20): No refund. 100% of payment scheduled amount is non-refundable per person.

CANCELLATION BY US SPORTS CAMPS

US Sports Camps reserves the right to cancel the tour. In this unlikely event, we will provide a complete refund for all fees paid to US Sports Camps. US Sports Camps is not responsible for loss of funds in association with travel accommodations made by the participant including, but not limited to, airfare and trip insurance.

FLIGHTS & TRAVEL INSURANCE

We strongly advise waiting until you have been interviewed and approved for the tour before purchasing flights. Please book flights as close to the arrival and departure times listed in the itinerary. You can arrange flights on your own or work with Linda Park, a recommended travel agent from Universal Traveller, who can help you find convenient flight options to work with the group itinerary on the ground. It is also strongly encouraged that you purchase flight and/or trip insurance should you or, in the unlikely event, US Sports Camps, need to cancel. US Sports Camps is not responsible for loss of funds in association with travel accommodations made by the participant including, but not limited to, airfare and trip insurance.

PASSPORTS & VISAS

We highly suggest obtaining all required travel documents as soon as you are approved for the tour. You must have a valid U.S. passport and a visa (depending on the country). The travel industry recommends that your passport is valid for at least 6 months beyond the duration of the trip as it is a requirement for some airlines. US Sports Camps is not responsible for tour refunds in the case you are refused entry into the country due to invalid travel documents.

HEALTH & IMMUNIZATIONS

We suggest visiting your physician to discuss any vaccines or medicines you may need. By booking this tour, you confirm that you are in good health, are able to care for yourself during the trip, and do not have any medical conditions that could cause risk for yourself or others.

INFORMATION PACKET

You will be emailed an information packet in the months leading up to the tour. The packet will include the final trip itinerary, a list of what to pack, what to expect, and other important details that should be reviewed thoroughly to help you prepare.

GOOGLE CLASSROOM

In the months leading up to the tour, you will receive an invite to the Nike Basketball Camp Tour Google Classroom. The Classroom will be hosted by the tour coaches and is designed to be used by the players. Ice breakers, team assignments, Olympic FIBA rule review, tips, and workouts will be posted weekly to get the players acquainted with one another before the trip and to prepare them physically and mentally for the competition abroad. It is highly encouraged that all players participate!

APPAREL & GEAR

All players will be given a personalized Nike uniform package at the start of the tour. The uniform package will include everything needed for game day (excluding shoes): a uniform, duffel bag/backpack, 1/4 zip long sleeve, socks, and slides.

absolutely outstanding

July 30, 2019: Jaden loved meeting and playing with the other young men from across the US. The coaching, guidance, and encouragement he received was absolutely outstanding. He enjoyed meeting and speaking with the Spanish teams and also trying new food. And finally, he really enjoyed getting to see and experience different cities in Spain. He even enjoyed the shopping, especially the new sneakers that I bought him there because they were sold out in the US!
