Camp Coaches
Doug Bruno
Camp Director
Coach Bruno is a pioneer and crusader for women’s basketball at all levels, and is entering his 34th season as the head of the DePaul University program for 2019-20. As an assistant coach for the USA Women's Basketball National Team since 2009, Bruno has helped lead the USA to its fifth and sixth straight golds in the 2012 and 2016 Olympics. In summer 2020, Coach Bruno will be stepping off the court, making way for onsite Director Beth "Spider" Roti who will be at camp each day. While Coach Bruno will still be an integral part of the camp, making an appearance at each session, his main focus will be overseeing the development and quality of the camp curriculum. Bruno was recently named one of the 12 finalists for induction into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame.
Beth “Spider” Roti
Camp Director
In Summer of 2020, Coach Roti took over as lead onsite Camp Director, having previously served as Camp Co-Director to Doug Bruno and an integral part of Doug Bruno for over 30 years. Roti is a former standout DePaul player and also served as Head Coach of Kishwaukee Jr. College. On top of that she was a multi-sport star athlete at Kaneland High School and DePaul University. Currently, Beth Roti is the JV Girls Basketball Coach at Lake Forest Academy.

We have a ratio of twelve campers to one staff member during all phases of camp. Ours is a system of constant roll calling, so we always know each camper’s schedule. The Bruno Camp employs a Dorm Mom to supervise our dormitories when your daughter is not in the gym. Our Dorm Mom is on duty and accessible by phone from 2 PM-midnight each day our camp is in session. Campers are supervised 100% of the time by our Doug Bruno Coaching staff, our Dorm Mom, and/or our support staff.
EXTENDED DAY CAMPERS
Extended Day Campers receive a full day of basketball instruction, lunch, dinner, competitive games, and optional swimming time. Campers check in between 9AM-10AM on the first day and should arrive between 8AM-8:30AM each day after that. Camp concludes between 7:30PM-9:30PM (competitive games), varying by age group.
Parents must come in the gym and sign their camper out at the coaches table at the end of their game session. Campers must not leave the gym at night unless they have permission by the Director. We must see the parent with the camper and physically see the parent sign them out in our book.

WHAT FAMILIES SAY ABOUT Doug Bruno Girls Basketball Camp at Lake Forest Academy
9 Reviews
Audrey had a wonderful time. She really connected with the coaches and believes her shooting improved at camp. The Lake Forest Academy location was really nice...Thank you!
We loved the staff, the basketball instruction, the fun atmosphere, new friendships and team building.
My daughter improved her skills, and had a really fun time there.
This is my daughters 2nd time going to camp, and I could not be more pleased. She loves Coach Spider and all the coaches. She loves competing in the different 3 on 3 and 5 on 5 competitions. This year, she was so excited to have made so many friends from other teams and places.
She had a blast with all her friends and she really liked all the coaches. She said she loved playing the games the most. One of her highlights was Beth having the whole camp sing Happy Birthday to Lyla. Thank you Beth, she really appreciated that.
Leilah had a great opportunity to experience basketball life away from home, connect with other AAU basketball players, and mature as a person. The quality of instruction and training atmosphere is unmatched and dorm life was great. The Director and dorm leaders were incredible and available. Leilah learned, connected and improved throughout the camp.
Sophia enjoyed playing more basketball- 3X3, completions, and of course making new friends. She said everyone was very positive. It was a lot of hard work, but she loved it!
Olivia had an amazing time. She loved her coach Nate and gladly very comfortable working with him. As her mom, I appreciated knowing the coaches were making her feel very comfortable and excited to be there. I also appreciate the coaches feedback that came home in her packet.
Hadley had a FANTASTIC week at camp. She really learned a lot of new basketball skills, while becoming more confident in her abilities and strengths and weaknesses. Also she loved the coaches and really enjoyed having their expertise about basketball and positive encouragements. Hadley was certainly pushed with the drills, activities, and amount of practice times, which will give her the push during her upcoming feeder season to go above and beyond. The relationships that formed between her roommates, teammates and coaches will never be forgotten. The Doug Bruno Camp will be recommended for sure and Hadley plans to attend in the future. Thanks for a wonderful and memorable experience.
