For the 2015-2016 season, Byrd led the Raptors to a record setting 23-8 overall record (11-3 Region). In addition, the Raptors were the Maryland Junior College (MDJUCO) Champions for the first time in 25 years. During the 2015-2016 season, Coach Byrd earned MD JUCO Coaches' Association Coach of the Year. The Raptors were the only team in MDJUCO to have 2 players named to the All-MDJUCO First-Team Tournament; MVP D’Angelo Vaughan and Patrick Smith. The Raptors concluded the 2015-16 season ranked 2nd amongst 15 teams from the MDJUCO Conference. They went on to play in the Region XX Championship and finish as runner ups; first-year student-athlete Juwan Wayne received first-team Region XX awards. While the Raptors won on the court, the program also posted a 3.0 overall team GPA in the classroom. Prior to joining Montgomery College as a coach, he was also a collegiate basketball player for Montgomery College. During his time at Montgomery College, the team won a Regional Championship and advanced to the National Championship tournament.
Previously, he was the assistant varsity coach at Our Lady of Good Counsel High School. He also has coached in Montgomery County for over 10 years. Coach Byrd aided in the development of “Mr. Basketball for the State of Maryland” and “Gatorade Player of Year,” Jamaal Wise, who now serves as an assistant coach for the Raptors.
Coach Byrd has coached and trained world-class athletes, who have played basketball both collegiately and professionally. He has also stayed committed to coaching through his work with various AAU organizations. His 15 years of coaching experience has given him an understanding of the importance of how “Hard-Work, Determination and Dedication; Can Only Lead to Success.”
Conclusively, Coach Byrd holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sociology. He is a son of Montgomery County and currently resides in Silver Spring, Maryland with his wife (Maria) and their two kids, daughter Mariah and son Keith Jr.

We cannot offer scholarships due to NCAA regulations. Our affiliation with NCAA coaches and schools puts us in a position where any scholarship money can be seen as an inducement to a future collegiate athlete. This puts our coaches and our host universities in jeopardy of damaging their status with the NCAA and incurring penalties at the hands of their organizing body.
