at Nike Basketball Camps

Improve your basketball game in Bristol VA, at Virginia High School. This summer's 2025 camp offers a boys and girls camp to help improve your shooting accuracy, ball-handling, and team play skills. Train with the General Manager of the Maine Celtics, Jarell Christian, and his staff and make long-lasting friendships.

The Complete Skills Camp helps players of all abilities develop athletically, refine fundamental basketball skills and enhance their skill set at the post, wing or guard position.

    For the last two seasons Jarell has served as the General Manager of the Maine Celtics, the NBA G League affiliate of the Boston Celtics, Pro Personnel Scout, and Player Development Coach with the Boston Celtics.

    During the 2021-2022 Christian was named the Head Coach of the Maine Celtics which produced 7 Call-Ups to the NBA, 2 of which are the Boston Celtics key reserves, Sam Hauser and Luke Kornet. Other notable names that received call-ups were that season were NCAA National Champions Ryan Arcidiacano and Theo Pinson.

    Prior to joining the Celtics organization Christian was as an Assistant Coach with the Washington Wizards for 2 seasons and their G League affiliate (Capital City Go-Go) Head Coach for their 2018-2019 inaugural season. From 2014-2018 Christian was a part of the Oklahoma City Thunder organization in a variety of roles. These roles included working with players such as Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, Paul George, Carmelo Anthony, Kendrick Perkins, and others.

    Before Christian got his start in the NBA, he was an Assistant Coach at three different colleges: Randolph-Macon College, Emory & Henry College, and Tusculum University. A 2009 Graduate of Emory & Henry College where he played for legendary coach Bob Johnson. Christian is also a proud graduate of New Kent High School, located in New Kent, Virginia.

    Jarell comes from a family of coaches and educators in the state of Virginia. His Father John Christian is a long-time coach & teacher at Charles City High School. His Mother is a retired educator after 30+ years in New Kent County Public Schools. And his elder brother, Jamion has been coaching at various levels for the last 20 years all ranging from AAU (Team Richmond) to overseas professional clubs.

    As a player, Coach Butler was recognized at the state level and graduated as Grayson County high school's all-time leading scorer. He competed in the VHSCA All-Star Game held at the Hampton Coliseum. After signing to play at Concord University, he then played at Catawba College and later finished his career at Virginia Intermont College in Bristol.

    While pursuing a master’s degree at East Tennessee State University, he served as a Graduate Assistant for the men's basketball team. In doing so, he was a part of two teams that made postseason play, which included the NCAA tournament and the College Invitational. Having worked numerous basketball camps throughout the southeast, Coach Butler has always had a passion for fostering a love of the game.

    Coach Butler began his high school coaching career by winning a state championship as an Assistant Varsity Coach with the Eastside girls basketball team. He currently serves as the Assistant Varsity Boys Basketball Coach at John Battle. Coach Butler also coaches multiple travel teams in the Tri-Cities area and does individual training. He is dedicated to working with young athletes to help them develop mentally and physically on the court.

July 7-10, 2025

  • Check-in: Monday at 8:30AM
  • Closing Ceremony: Thursday at 2:30PM
  • Meals: Lunch is not provided. Please bring a packed lunch.
  • Daily Hours: MON-THURS 9AM-3PM

WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THE FEE?

  • Instruction: Morning and afternoon training sessions
  • Supervision: Campers are supervised by staff during camp hours
  • Lunch: Lunch is not provided, please bring a sack lunch each day
  • Camp T-shirt & Prizes: Campers at multi-day camps will receive a Nike Basketball Camps t-shirt. *1-day clinics and fall, winter and spring camps excluded.
  • Basketballs: Basketballs are provided for instruction during camp

TEAM DISCOUNT

If you have a group of 5 or more campers registering for the same camp, each camper is eligible for a $25 discount. If you have a group of 10 or more campers registering for the same camp, each camper is eligible for a $40 discount. Please fill out the Team Discount - Basketball form with the name of your group and the names of each camper enrolling in the camp and we will create a unique discount code for your group.

INSTRUCTION & FACILITY

  • Ratio: 1:10 staff-to-camper ratio
  • Groupings: Campers are grouped by ability, age, and experience, per the Director's discretion
  • Facility: Indoor courts
  • Medical Protocol: Most camps have an athletic trainer on-site to help with illness or injury. In case of an emergency, campers will be transported to the nearest hospital.

BASKETBALLS

Nike All Court Elite Basketballs can be purchased during registration for $35. Players can choose between a size 6 (28.5", standard girls) or size 7 (29.5", standard boys) ball, which will be passed out on the last day of camp. Please note that it is not required to bring a basketball to camp as they are provided by the staff for camp instruction.

PRE-CAMP CHECKLIST

To view your customer account, complete your mandatory forms, pay balance dues, and review important camp information, visit Pre-Camp Checklist. All necessary camp information is on this page. If there are any imperative changes prior to camp start, registered campers will be notified via email and this webpage will be updated!

PACKING LIST

Below is a suggested list of clothes, equipment, and personal items. US Sports Camps is NOT responsible for lost or stolen articles or money.

CAMPER EVALUATION

Upon arrival, all participants are evaluated by the staff so that their own instructional needs can be addressed throughout the week. In addition, campers will be evaluated and then split up into smaller groups according to age and ability.

MEDICAL PROTOCOL

Most camps have an athletic trainer on-site to help with illness or injury. In case of an emergency, campers will be transported to the nearest hospital.

COMPANY POLICIES

If you need to cancel for any reason up until 24 hours prior to camp check-in, you will receive a camp credit voucher for tuition fees paid that is good through the following year for any sport and is transferable to any immediate family member. Participants who DO NOT attend their registered session (no-shows for any reason) or who do not contact USSC to cancel at least 24 hours prior to camp check-in will not receive a voucher or refund. Cash refunds are given only if Cancellation Protection was purchased at the time of registration and the cancellation is made before your balance due date.

TRANSPORTATION

Transportation is not provided by the camp to or from any airports. If you are flying to or from camp, we recommend using an airport shuttle service. Please schedule flights as close as you can to the check-in times on the first day and check-out times on the last day.
