Camp Coaches

  • Ray Harris

    Director

Coach Harris enters his first season leading the Wenatchee Valley College Women’s Basketball program. A Yakima native, he was a multi-sport standout at La Salle High School, earning multiple All-League First Team honors in football, baseball, and basketball before competing in collegiate soccer at WVC and briefly walking on at the University of Idaho.

    Ray Harris

    Director

His coaching career began in 2006, and for the past seven years he guided Eisenhower High School Girls Basketball, where he helped turn around a struggling program. Under his leadership, Eisenhower captured its first league title in 16 years and came within a game of the state tournament. He finished with a 57–53 record, revitalizing a team that had previously gone 9–110.

Coach Harris comes from a large family, with three brothers, a sister, 14 nieces and nephews, a godson, and his dog, Chico. His passion for coaching lies in helping young athletes discover their strength, unlock potential, and believe in themselves.

At WVC, his mission is to build a competitive, hardworking, and supportive culture while connecting the program to the local community. He believes in giving student-athletes the opportunity to “rewrite their story” and grow both on and off the court.

  • Sanchez Alexis Headshot

    Alexis Sanchez

    Assistant Coach

Alexis Sanchez-Esquivel joins the Wenatchee Valley College Women’s Basketball program in his first year as an assistant coach. Growing up, Alexis has played and earned multiple school and league awards in middle school and high school in wrestling, football, basketball, track, cross country, and soccer. A WVC alumni himself, Alexis transferred over to the University of Washington earning a double bachelor's degree in law, Societies & Justice and Sociology with a minor in Spanish.

    Assistant Coach

Academics has always been a priority in Alexis’s life where he continues to help students at WVC in guiding them towards their intended academic/career path as a college advisor. As a first-gen college student, Alexis understands the types of struggles that most college students face when it comes to academics. He enjoys spending time with his family, being outdoors, and exploring new places.

As a natural born competitor himself, Sanchez’s favorite part about coaching is challenging his players to new limits and goals they did not know they could reach. He loves seeing the results of players show out in their games from the work and dedication they put in prior. His goal is to help athletes accomplish their goals both on the court and in the classroom.

    Assistant Coach

What Weatherman cherishes most about coaching is the opportunity to witness her players' remarkable growth in several key areas. She finds immense satisfaction in observing their mental development as they learn to strategize, overcome challenges, and foster resilience in the face of adversity. This holistic transformation is what fuels her passion for coaching.

Her goal as the assistant coach is to foster a supportive environment where each player can thrive both individually and as part of the team. She emphasizes the importance of communication and collaboration, ensuring that every athlete feels valued and heard. By focusing on skill development and building confidence, she aims to inspire her players to push their limits, embrace challenges, and grow not only in their sport but also as individuals.
