La Jolla Country Day School’s Women’s Basketball program is recognized as a national perennial power. Head Coach Terri Bamford has led the four-time state champion women’s varsity basketball team since 1999. During her tenure, Coach Bamford’s squads have posted an impressive 437-122 record, winning 13 League titles and 13 San Diego Section CIF titles (2001-2008, 2010-2012). Our teams have made 12 Southern Regional Championship appearances, winning eight (2001-2004, 2008, 2012, 2014 and 2015), and have appeared in eight state championship games (2001-2004, 2008, 2012, 2014 and 2015), winning state titles in 2001, 2002, 2012 and 2015. Coach Bamford was named the CalHi Sports Coach of the Year in 2001 and 2012, the Breibart Hall of Champions Coach of the Year in 2002, and Union Tribune Coach of the Year in 2003 and 2007. She has also earned national honors as the 2011 WBCA District Coach of the Year and was selected to coach the WBCA 2011 High School All-American Game presented by Nike. She was selected as the 2011-2012 California Coaches Association Coach of the Year and was selected as a floor coach for the USA Basketball U17-U18 National Team Trials May 2012 and 2013.
The Lady Torrey Basketball program has a winning tradition that dates back to the early 1980s under Head Coach Jack Wigley. Coach Wigley’s squad won four league titles (1984, 1988, 1989 and 1990) and four San Diego CIF titles (1985, 1988, 1989 and 1990).
The program offers both varsity and junior varsity teams. At each level, we instill the concept that attitude and effort determines our success. Our program has created a strong culture, sound habits and high standards. At each level, we have created a winning culture by developing winning habits and setting winning standards. Winning is all about commitment and each player and coach must be committed to academics, character building, work ethic, a winning attitude and sportsmanship.
Under Coach Bamford’s direction, 28 players have earned All-League and All-CIF honors including five San Diego Section Players of the Year (2003, 2008, 2010, 2012, and 2013), two McDonalds All-American in 2004 and 2013, eight McDonalds All-American nominees (2004, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012, and 2013), and two USA Olympians. Twenty-six of Coach Bamford’s players have gone on to play Division I basketball.

We cannot offer scholarships due to NCAA regulations. Our affiliation with NCAA coaches and schools puts us in a position where any scholarship money can be seen as an inducement to a future collegiate athlete. This puts our coaches and our host universities in jeopardy of damaging their status with the NCAA and incurring penalties at the hands of their organizing body.

My daughter loved it
July 27, 2016: I found the camp to be perfect with the level of intensity. Everyone clearly loved basketball, but playing music and watching the assistant coaches dance or laugh made it seem also fun and enjoyable to be out there playing the camp.

Great, quality camp
July 28, 2016: The experience for my little lady was amazing. She had many friends attending and really learned a lot. The music and dancing was provided a fun working, learning atmosphere for the campers. Having a girls coaching staff/ players was also a plus for the other girls to see.
