Located in Wichita, KS, this intensive camp focuses on refining your strength, conditioning, tactical teamwork, and core fundamentals. It is the perfect opportunity to sharpen your on-court skills, build self-assurance, and grow alongside a community of dedicated athletes!

The Complete Skills Camp helps players of all abilities develop athletically, refine fundamental basketball skills and enhance their skill set at the post, wing or guard position.

    Director

    Kenyon Spears begins his tenure as Athletic Director for the Newman University Jets in 2025-26, bringing over 20 years of experience in collegiate athletics. He previously served as Senior Associate Athletic Director at the University of the Incarnate Word (UIW), where he managed major partnerships with brands like Adidas and Pepsi, led diverse sport administrations, and oversaw external relations. A champion for equity, Spears established the "As One We Will" program and served as the external lead for the 2025 NCAA Men’s Final Four.

    Before his administrative career, Spears spent nearly two decades as a Division I basketball coach, contributing to program turnarounds and record-setting seasons at UIW, LIU Brooklyn, and Wagner College. His coaching journey began at his alma mater, Lamar University, following a successful playing career that included an NCAA Tournament appearance. Spears’ background combines a proven championship mindset with a dedicated focus on student-athlete mental health and revenue generation.

    R.J. Allen enters his ninth season as the head coach of the Newman Men’s Basketball program in 2025-26, continuing a tenure marked by program milestones and player development. The 2024-25 campaign saw the Jets post a 15-13 record, their best finish since 2018-19. Under Allen’s guidance, Sam Somerhalder and Boston Stanton III earned All-MIAA Honorable Mention and CSC All-District honors, while Jordan Glenn-Hawkins also secured CSC All-District recognition. This followed a 2023-24 season where Stevie Strong was named All-MIAA Honorable Mention for the second consecutive year, following a 9-19 campaign in 2022-23. Allen also led the program through the challenges of the 2020-21 COVID-impacted season and the transition into the MIAA in 2019-20, where Marshawn Blackmon earned Third Team All-Conference honors.

    Allen’s head coaching career began with historic success in the Heartland Conference. In the 2018-19 season, he led the Jets to a 20-9 record, tying the school record for wins in the NCAA DII era and finishing third in the conference. During his debut season in 2017-18, Allen was named Heartland Conference Coach of the Year—the first coach in league history to earn the award in his first year—after leading the team to a 14-14 record and a third-place conference finish. Before taking the helm, Allen served six seasons as Associate Head Coach, contributing to 88 wins and the program’s first NCAA Tournament berth in 2012-13.

    A Wichita native, Allen’s deep roots in the local basketball scene began at Wichita East High School, where he played for his father, Ron Allen, and earned all-state honors while winning a 6A State Championship in 2002. His collegiate journey started at Hutchinson Community College, where he captained a 30-3 squad, before finishing his playing career as a two-year starter and captain at Concordia University (St. Paul). Allen additionally gained coaching experience at Woodbury High School and with the 43 Hoops AAU club in Minnesota. He currently resides in Wichita with his wife, Tia, and their two sons, Cameron and Kendall.

    Amy Briggs enters her third year as head coach of the Newman University Jets for the 2025-26 season. After joining the program in 2023, she has remained focused on building a culture of excellence and academic achievement. During the 2024-25 campaign, her leadership helped four student-athletes earn CSC All-District Honors, including Paige Craft, Saige Grampsas, Monica Redondo, and Delainey Wylie. This followed a foundational inaugural year where Briggs began implementing her vision for the program in Wichita.

    Before her tenure at Newman, Briggs established a reputation for winning and player development at several collegiate levels. As an associate head coach at Truman State, she helped guide the Bulldogs to a 46-26 record and an NCAA DII Midwest Regional appearance. She previously revitalized the program at Central College, where the team improved its win total every year of her four-season stay. An elite shooter during her playing days at both Truman State and Johnson County Community College, the Kansas native now brings that same competitive drive and expertise to the sidelines for the Jets.

  • Check-in: Monday at 8:30AM
  • Meals: Bring a packed lunch
  • Closing Ceremony: Thursday at 2:30PM
  • Daily Hours: MON-THURS 9AM-3PM

WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THE FEE?

  • Instruction: Morning and afternoon training sessions
  • Supervision: Campers are supervised by staff during camp hours
  • Lunch: Lunch is not provided. Please bring a packed lunch
  • Camp T-shirt & Prizes: Campers at multi-day camps will receive a Nike Basketball Camps t-shirt. *1-day clinics and fall, winter and spring camps excluded.
  • Basketballs: Basketballs are provided for instruction during camp

INSTRUCTION & FACILITY

  • Ratio: 1:10 staff-to-camper ratio
  • Groupings: Campers are grouped by ability, age, and experience, per the Director's discretion
  • Facility: Indoor courts
  • Medical Protocol: Most camps have an athletic trainer on-site to help with illness or injury. In case of an emergency, campers will be transported to the nearest hospital.

BASKETBALLS

Nike All Court Elite Basketballs can be purchased during registration for $35. Players can choose between a size 6 (28.5", standard girls) or size 7 (29.5", standard boys) ball, which will be passed out on the last day of camp. Please note that it is not required to bring a basketball to camp as they are provided by the staff for camp instruction.

Below is a suggested list of clothes, equipment, and personal items. US Sports Camps is NOT responsible for lost or stolen articles or money.

CAMPER EVALUATION

Upon arrival, all participants are evaluated by the staff so that their own instructional needs can be addressed throughout the week. In addition, campers will be evaluated and then split up into smaller groups according to age and ability.

MEDICAL PROTOCOL

Most camps have an athletic trainer on-site to help with illness or injury. In case of an emergency, campers will be transported to the nearest hospital.

COMPANY POLICIES

If you need to cancel for any reason up until 24 hours prior to camp check-in, you will receive a camp credit voucher for tuition fees paid that is good through the following year for any sport and is transferable to any immediate family member. Participants who DO NOT attend their registered session (no-shows for any reason) or who do not contact USSC to cancel at least 24 hours prior to camp check-in will not receive a voucher or refund. Cash refunds are given only if Cancellation Protection was purchased at the time of registration and the cancellation is made before your balance due date.

TRANSPORTATION

Transportation is not provided by the camp to or from any airports. If you are flying to or from camp, we recommend using an airport shuttle service. Please schedule flights as close as you can to the check-in times on the first day and check-out times on the last day.

Newman U Facility

Fugate Gymnasium, opened in 1999, is home to Potter Family Court and the Newman Men's and Women's Basketball programs, as well as Newman Volleyball and Wrestling programs.

With a seating capacity of 1,242, Fugate Gymnasium brings one of the best atmospheres in small college athletics. It is also home to coaches offices, and houses the Eck Fitness Center with an aerobics and weight room. The Gymnasium also includes 6 locker rooms with an athletic training facility.
