Adrien Ricci

Adrien Ricci is in her first season as the Smith College head track & field coach. Since 2009 Ricci has served as the Director of Boys and Girls Cross Country and Track & Field programs at Poly Prep Country Day School in Brooklyn, N.Y.

During her time at Poly Prep, Ricci was responsible for the planning, developing, and coaching of a three season, 12-team upper and middle school program with over 210 competitive student-athletes. She implemented a comprehensive recruiting plan for prospective student-athletes in addition to teaching physical education in grades 5-8. From 2007 to 2009, Ricci spent two years as an assistant coach for the cross country and track & field teams at Lewis University. During the 2008 season, she coached 18 individual points scorers and nine individual champions or runners-up at the conference championships. As a member of the Flyers coaching staff, Ricci designed, coordinated, implemented, and administered all aspects of the distance program as well as recruited all men and women cross country, middle distance, and long distance athletes. While under head coach Ellen O'Neil's guidance at Smith from 2005 to 2007, Ricci assisted in all aspects of the cross country and track programs, helping to coach seven distance athletes to all-conference status, including one who was a two-time national qualifier in cross country and once in the 3000-meter steeplechase in outdoor track. Eleven athletes earned academic all-conference with Ricci as an assistant coach.

From 2003 to 2006 Ricci served as the Elmhurst College athletic liaison between the admission and athletic departments. An NCAA Division III All-American in cross country, Ricci was a four-year varsity letter winner of both Elmhurst College's cross country and track and field teams. She competed at both the Drake and Penn Relays, was a 13-time College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin All-Conference honoree, a seven-time Division III national qualifier, a two-time cross country Midwest All-Region honoree, and six-time Academic All-American. Ricci holds the Elmhurst school record for the 10,000-meter run and was a member of the school's record-setting 4x mile relay team.
