Aileen Nasypany
Aileen’s legacy through the world of soccer is a testament to her passion, dedication, and expertise in the sport. From her earliest days on the field to her diverse roles in coaching and administration, Aileen's career exemplifies a lifelong commitment to advancing girl’s soccer and nurturing young talent.
Aileen’s soccer journey began at the tender age of four, and her passion for the game only grew stronger as she progressed through the ranks. Her collegiate career saw her compete at both NCAA Division I Canisius College and Division II Bentley University, where she honed her skills and deepened her understanding of the game.
Transitioning into coaching after graduation, Aileen quickly made a name for herself. At Herkimer College, she served as Assistant Coach for a year before being promoted to Head Coach. Under her leadership, the team achieved a commendable 10-5-2 record and secured a playoff berth, earning her the Mountain Valley Conference Second-Team Coach of the Year accolade.
Aileen’s career then took an exciting step as took on numerous roles to support the launch of the Women’s United Soccer Association (WUSA) – the first ever women’s professional soccer league in the United States. Within the Boston Breakers franchise, she excelled in team and field operations, hospitality/event management, and camps/youth player development. Following the WUSA’s unfortunate dissolution, she joined Emerson College as Assistant Coach in 2003 before making the decision to move to the West Coast.
In early 2004, Aileen began working with youth recreation, premier club, and high school programs in Los Angeles, Santa Cruz, and the Bay Area. Her impactful tenure as Assistant Coach at UC Santa Cruz from 2004 to 2008 was marked by significant achievements, including three NCAA Playoff appearances, a top 25 national ranking, and two NSCAA Team Academic Awards. The 2007 season was particularly remarkable, with the team achieving an undefeated record (17-0-4) and advancing to the NCAA Sweet 16 round. Aileen also played a key role in forming the Title IX Gender Equity Committee, ensuring equity for women’s sports on campus, and served in various administrative capacities.
In 2007, Aileen took on the role of WPSL Head Coach for the semi-professional San Francisco Nighthawks, leading them to three consecutive championships at the Las Vegas Silver Mug National Tournament (2009, 2010, 2011) and winning the Northern California Open State Cup Championship. Her work with the Nighthawks, combined with her role as Women’s Professional Soccer League Office Manager and Executive Assistant to the Commissioner, showcased her multifaceted expertise. Additionally, her achievements at Aptos High School earned her the SCCAL Coach of the Year award in 2008.
Aileen’s career continued to flourish as she became an NCAA Head Coach, establishing the first-ever women’s soccer program at Academy of Art University from 2009 to 2013, and later guiding California State University Dominguez Hills through a period of growth and rebuilding from 2014 to 2017. Her involvement in the NCAA included graduating from the NCAA Women’s Coaches Academy and participating in various NCAA committees, reflecting her dedication to shaping the future of collegiate soccer.
A native of upstate New York, Aileen values the balance between academic and athletic success, as evidenced by the seven NSCAA Team Academic Awards earned by her teams at both Academy of Art University and California State University Dominguez Hills. Her educational background includes a degree in Business Administration with a minor in Computer Science from Bentley University and a Master’s in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University Irvine. Aileen also holds both a National and Advanced National Coaching License from NSCAA, along with diplomas in Goalkeeper Level 1, Mental/Physical Player Development, and Building Team Culture. Recently, Aileen served as the Director of Athletics at an all-girls high school, where she championed the holistic development of young women and coaches. Her leadership focused on fostering growth not only on the field, but also in the classroom and in life, ensuring a well-rounded approach to athletic and personal development.
Aileen Nasypany is now channeling her extensive experience and enthusiasm into SoCal Youth Sports Solutions, where she is dedicated to helping the next generation of female soccer players develop a deep love for the game through engaging and educational opportunities!
