Alessandra Ponce - Assistant Softball Coach

Alessandra Ponce joined the Fairfield softball program as an assistant coach beginning with the 2022 season, her first coaching position at the collegiate level.

She enjoyed a successful career as a student-athlete at George Washington University. During her career, Ponce earned All-Mid-Atlantic Region honors and All-Atlantic 10 accolades for her performance on the diamond. In the classroom, she was a member of both the Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team as well as the Atlantic 10 Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

In recognition of her success both academically and athletically, Ponce was the recipient of the 2022 DCR Award which is presented to the student-athlete who embodies and exemplifies the George Washington University Athletic Department’s values, determination, commitment, and respect.

Throughout her career, Ponce ranked among the nation’s best in several statistical categories, beginning with her freshman season in which she ranked 24th in the nation for doubles with 18 over her 60 appearances. In her junior season, she was among the nation’s elite in RBI per game (tied for ninth with 1.21 per game). Last season, Ponce was tied for 16th in Division I with her 17 doubles overall and 28th in doubles per game with 0.32 per game.

Ponce finished her career at George Washington University with a .336 batting average off 222 hits in 660 at-bats along with a .387 on-base percentage. She posted 59 doubles, 26 home runs, and 167 RBI while in uniform. She posted a .340 or better batting average in three of her five seasons with the program, highlighted by a .406 mark in her freshman campaign.

She graduated from George Washington University with a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences degree in May, 2021. She also worked on a Masters Certificate in Paralegal Studies where she earned induction into the National Paralegal Honor Society.
