Amanda Phelps

Amanda Phelps just completed her first season as Fire women's volleyball coach. The Fire finished the season 2nd in the Sun Conference.

Phelps comes to Lakeland after a successful tenure as the head coach at Lake-Sumter State College in Leesburg, where she was a two-time Region Coach of the Year and led the team to its first two national tournament appearances in program history.

Amanda brings both a passion for the game and a wealth of experience to our program," said Watson. "She is a proven winner, and I am confident not only that she can build on the recent success of the program, but more importantly, invest in the growth and development of the young women she will be coaching. She and her husband are great additions to the Fire family.

The 2021 season saw the Lakehawks go 25-8 and break the program record for wins in a season, claiming the NJCAA Division II Gulf District Tournament title in the process.

Phelps started the volleyball program at Lake Minneola High School and guided the fledgling program to a pair of district titles in six years.

She also served as the head coach with Top Select Volleyball Academy and Tsunami Volleyball Club and was a graduate assistant and assistant coach at the University of West Georgia.
