Andy Carr

Andy Carr is currently the Community Cross Country & Track distance coach at Milton High School in Milton, GA. (2004-present). Milton has won multiple county titles and was crowned Boys state cross country champions in 2017 & has had multiple top-4 finishes at GA State meet for both the girl’s & boy’s programs while under Coach Carr’s tutelage. He was named 2008 Fulton County Boy's cross country Coach of the Year & 2017 Georgia High School Boys cross country Coach of the Year by USTFCCCA.

Previously, Carr coached at Salem High School in Salem, VA, where the girls finished seventh in VA 1985 state meet. In 1986, he coached at Einsten HS in Kensington, MD where two athletes qualified for the Maryland state meet in track. Coach Carr coached two female athletes that qualified for the US Olympic Trials in the marathon (1988), 10,000m (1988 & 2000) & 5000m (2000) & were members of USA teams at the World Cross Country Meet in 1999 & 2000. Coach Carr has been a competitive runner since 1976 running for elementary, middle and high school track & XC teams. He ran collegiately for Roanoke College where he raced in two national championship meets in XC. A veteran road racer and marathoner, he has run 15 marathons and three ultra-marathons. He ran the 100th Boston Marathon in 1996. Outstanding performances include: sixth in HS state meet in the 4x800m relay, college school record-holder in the 3000m Steeplechase. Coach Carr was also Runner of the Year, Montgomery County Road Runners Club (MD)-1986, Long Distance Running Man of the Year, 2011-12 by USA Track & Field & USATFGA & the Judo Brown Award winner for Outstanding Boys High School T&F Coach by Atlanta Track Club in 2015.

Currently, Carr works full-time for the Atlanta Track Club (since 1999) and part-time for USA Track & Field (since 2006) as its long distance running record-keeper. He has served as a master level USA Track & Field official since 1987 & officiated at the 2016 US Olympic Trials. Coach Carr has been a staff coach at SMRC since 2006.
