Anthony Szymel
Anthony Szymel serves as Chicago Empire FC's Goalkeeping Director, and Associate Tournament Director. As a former standout Collegiate goalkeeper, and a Division 1 assistant at DePaul University, Anthony brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Empire FC Coaching Staff.
After starring at Naperville North High School, he led Lewis University to a pair of NCAA Division II Tournament appearances and led the nation as a senior in save percentage. That season, Lewis went 14-1-4 and advanced to the NCAA Midwest Region finals. As a senior, Szymel was named as a National Soccer Coaches Association of America Second Team Scholar All-American.
Quite the decorated athlete, both on and off the field, Szymel earned Great Lakes Valley Conference Academic honors all four years and was twice named to the CoSIDA / ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District Team. Szymel was also a three-time All-GLVC selection and two-time all-region pick.
