Austin Peters

Before joining the ACU MBB coaching staff for the 2022-23 season, Coach Peters spent two seasons coaching at his alma mater Olivet Nazarene University. The Tigers won two Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference championships and produced three NAIA All-Americans with his help. A three year stint at NCAA Division III Shenandoah University preceded his time at ONU. His first coaching role came as a graduate assistant at NCAA Division I Valparaiso University. The highlights from his Valpo days were two Horizon League titles, two trips to the National Invitational Tournament (2017 NIT runner up), and ten players who went on to play professionally.

Prior to Olivet, Austin spent three seasons as an assistant coach at NCAA Division III Shenandoah University in Winchester, VA. During his time with the Hornets, the program set records for team GPA and community service hours, ranking top five nationally for community service hours in the 2019-20 school year. Austin was also the lead recruiter for the 2019 ODAC Rookie of the Year, the first rookie of the year in Shenandoah's history.

Before his time in Virginia, Austin spent two seasons as a Graduate Assistant at NCAA Division I Valparaiso University in Indiana. During his time there, Valpo won the Horizon League regular season title both years, earned berths to the National Invitation Tournament in back to back seasons, and had a runner-up finish in the 2016 NIT. Austin aided in the development of three All-Horizon League performers, including the 2017 Horizon League Player of the Year. In addition to that, Austin helped in the development of 10 players that went on to play basketball professionally following their time at VU.

Austin is from Washington, IL and graduated from Olivet Nazarene University in 2015 with a Bachelor's of Science in Accounting. While at Valparaiso University, he received his Master's of Science in Sports Administration in 2017. Austin's younger brother, Alec Peters, was a standout player at Valparaiso University and was drafted by the Phoenix Suns in the 2017 NBA Draft.

Coach Peters and his wife- Emily, who works in the ACU Admissions Office, enjoy Marvel Movies (have a ranking for all of them), playing board games, and eating Chipotle. The Peters attend Scottsdale Bible Church.
