Bill Zwaan

Bill Zwaan begins recently finished his 14th season as head coach of the Golden Rams, having put together one of the most impressive coaching resume’s in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference during that span.

Zwaan has won four PSAC Eastern Division titles (2004, 2007, 2008 and 2015) while copping Coach of the Year plaudits each time. He has guided the Golden Rams to the NCAA II playoffs a school-record seven times while authoring the second-most wins in school history (108) and steering the institution to the national semifinals twice (2004 and 2013). His 14 years of service to the Golden Rams football team ties him for the second longest stint as head coach in school history with the man he replaced in 2003 (Rick Daniels). Only the legendary W. Glenn Killinger coached West Chester football for a longer period of time (23 years).

In 13 years on West Chester’s sideline, Zwaan has masterminded a 108-51 (.679) record. He sports an overall record of 162-65 (.714) in 19 years. As he begins his second decade in the head coaching profession, Zwaan stands behind only the venerable Denny Douds (43 years at East Stroudsburg) in coaching seasons within the PSAC.

Additionally, Zwaan’s 20 years of service as a head coach is tied for seventh across the nation in Division II in terms of longevity. His .714 career winning percentage ranks seventh among active head coaches in DII and 21st all-time among coaches who spent at least part of their career at the Division II level. His 165 career wins ranks fifth nationally among active head coaches at DII and 41st all time.
