Bobby Blanken
Director
Bobby Blanken became Colorado Christian’s Head Volleyball Coach in 2017, immediately making an impact by leading the Cougars to a 14-4 conference record and their first-ever opportunity to host an RMAC Tournament match.
Since then, Coach Blanken has guided CCU to seven RMAC Tournament appearances in his first eight seasons, developing numerous All-Conference athletes and mentoring standout player Sophia Proano, who earned All-Region and All-American honors.
The 2024 season marked a historic breakthrough: CCU upset higher seeds in back-to-back RMAC Tournament matches to reach the program’s first-ever Tournament Title game and secure only the second NCAA Regional berth in school history and the first since 2012.
Before joining CCU, Blanken was the Head Assistant Coach at MSU Denver (2014–2017), where he worked under decorated head coaches Debbie Hendricks and Jenny Glenn. During his time there, MSU Denver went 18-0 in RMAC play in 2016. He also served as Head Coach at The Master’s University (2010–2014), transforming the program from a 7-22 record into a national contender ranked No. 6 in the NAIA. His success earned him the 2012 AVCA West Region Coach of the Year and GSAC Coach of the Year honors, with a final record of 87-56 (.608).
Beyond coaching achievements, Bobby is passionate about mentoring athletes in their faith. He holds a master’s degree in Kinesiology from Fresno Pacific University and a bachelor’s in Physical Education from Missouri Western State University. In addition to coaching, he has taught college courses at MSU Denver and The Master’s University.
Bobby and his wife, Sara, are proud parents of five children, their oldest now attending CCU.
