Carly Pry
Camp Coach
Carly Pry is the Assistant Volleyball Coach at Amherst College.
Carly Pry joined the Nike Volleyball Camp staff at Smith College as a dedicated mentor and strategist, bringing a championship pedigree from her time as both a decorated student-athlete and a rising collegiate coach. Currently serving as the Assistant Volleyball Coach at Amherst College, Pry is instrumental in the daily technical and tactical evolution of the Mammoths. At Amherst, she focuses on high-level player development, scouting, and recruiting, utilizing her keen eye for the game to prepare athletes for elite competition.
Before arriving in the Pioneer Valley, Pry established herself as a cornerstone of the volleyball program at Pennsylvania Western University Edinboro. A four-year starting libero and 2024 team captain, she was the heartbeat of the Fighting Scots’ defense. Her collegiate career was defined by relentless consistency and technical precision, culminating in an extraordinary 1,703 career digs (4.14 digs per set). This firsthand experience at the highest levels of Division II play allows her to provide campers with unique insights into defensive mindset and back-row excellence.
Pry’s coaching philosophy is rooted in a holistic approach to athlete growth. Beyond her tactical expertise, she holds a B.S. in Psychology, having conducted specialized research on self-compassion and setback recovery. This academic background enables her to coach the "whole athlete," emphasizing mental toughness and emotional resilience alongside physical skills. Her coaching resume is further bolstered by years of experience at Matchpoint Volleyball and serving her home community at New Philadelphia High School, where she has a proven track record of guiding aspiring college players through the recruitment process
