Carter Capps
Carter Capps joined the Redhawks prior to the 2022 season and is in his first year with Seattle U. Capps serves as the pitching coach for the Redhawks.
Capps previously worked in the New York Mets organization, serving as a minor league pitching coach and coordinator based out of Port St. Lucie. He also served as a pitching coach with Driveline.
Before joining the coaching ranks, Capps had a prestigious professional career, spending six seasons in MLB. Capps pitched for the Seattle Mariners, Miami Marlins, and San Diego Padres in his MLB career, recording a 4.21 ERA across 129 appearances as a reliever. He spent eight years in MLB systems before retiring in 2018.
A native of Kinston, North Carolina, Capps pitched collegiately at Mount Olive College, where he was named the Division II Pitcher of the Year and First Team All-American. Capps went 24-1 in his collegiate career across two seasons, matching the school record with 129 strikeouts as a sophomore. He would throw the first nine-inning no-hitter in Mount Olive history en route to a 1.75 ERA.
